Both my reciever and disc changer quit working after a lightning storm that ruined several other items in our house... any ideas on what could be wrong or how to fix them?

The control board to your range may have been damaged because of the lightning storm. It happens when lightning strikes a power line and sends a surge of power to your home. This large current surge can easily damage electronic circuits. More often than not if a device is on and lightning strikes, that is when the device gets damaged. During large lightning storms it is best to turn off all electronic devices. The electricity going to your house is fine now and that is probably what your electrician checked.
if you can get to the laser eye take a paper towel or tissue paper soak in rubbing achole and clean the eye if you cant reach it or it is hidden in the mechinism get a disc cleaner and run that in the system it sounds like the laser eye is dirty i do it to my cd player all the time when it can't read the disc
the best bet is sony to sony / ford to ford/ pioneer to pioneer/ you can go down to wally world and pickup a decent reciever for about $150.00 and you will save a lot of head aches tryin to adapt& cut and you will still not know why the factory cd changer quit working..
Did you have a storm or lightning? Try unplugging the power cable from the left rear of the machine (not the wall). I have had to do this on several occassions after storms. Good Luck!
HI. the storm has caused an electrical surge that traveled through the home wiring system and, the Oven control received the hit in this case. it is damaged at this point, and it should be replaced asap, if possible. this code represents a major control breakdown. the board is ruined.
