Cannot get rid of an unwanted program .

Cannot get rid of an unwnted program (antivirus2008XP) that showed up on my computer! It's a scan-only program, and "they" want money for the full program. I've tried majorgeeks. com (per your instructions) but I had no luck finding the download (s) recommended. Tried a couple that I thought might work......no luck. I'm really stuck. Help!

What I finally did, to get rid of the problem, was (per your suggestion) was download the free antispyware software, Spyware Doctor. It finally got rid of the spyware. I had to go into settings to get rid of the warning on my desk top. You guys aimed me in the right direction to clear the problem. I now use the Spyware Doctor every time I fire up the computer, and just before I shut 'er down. So far, no more problems. Hey...Light the fires, & kick the tires! You guys were a big help................Thanks!

Hi - thanks for the reply. Let's work something out. Can you tell me what all you have out there under the Startup tab in MSCONFIG? Thanks!

  • Venkat CV May 11, 2010

Does this program show up on Add/Remove Programs? You can access this by using Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

If you can't uninstall it from there, we could try and eliminate the program by doing a manual uninstall. To start off with, go to Start > Run. Type in MSCONFIG and hit Enter. Click the Startup tab. Can you let me know what all programs you see listed on the Startup tab? We'll discuss next steps from there.

    Thanks!

Here's manual antivirus xp 2008 removal
http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-xp.html

If you are having problems with your desktop or getting the nasty message when you boot up follow the instructions below, but use the above link to remove the virus. YES THIS IS A VIRUS AND NOT A VIRUS REMOVAL TOOL!

First you need to stop the program from loading on startup. This is what you do to stop it:

Start, run

Type msconfig

Go to Startup tab
(if you've totally removed the antivirus program, you will not find these files and you can skip to the gpedit.msc step)

Uncheck lphc35dj0e1an
Uncheck rhc75dj0e1an

Click apply, then ok
Restart computer

Then you need to delete the main files this program uses. Delete the following file:

C:\windows\system32\lphc35dj0e1an.exe

Delete the following folder and all contents:

C:\program files\rhc75dj0e1an

This should remove the program from your system but you probably still have a warning message displayed as your wallpaper in Windows and the virus removed the ability to change the wallpaper or your desktop settings.

To restore ability to change your desktop settings and select a different wallpaper and screen saver do the following:

Start, run

type Gpedit.msc

Navigate to User configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, Display

Right click on Remove Display in Control Panel
Click on Properties and select Disabled

Do the same steps to change the following attributes to disabled:

Hide Desktop Tab
Prevent changing wallpaper
Hide Apperance and Themes tab
Hide Settings tab
Hide Screen Saver tab

You should now be able to use your computer normally and change the wallpaper/screensaver to something other than the warning message Antivirus XP 2008 set it to.

I have a pop-up that keeps asking if I want to proceed with an update with no information as to what it is that I among updating. How do I get rid of it

First of all, make sure you have a recent backup of any critical data. Then, check for malware.

You may have a virus, malware, adware, a browser hijacker, or pups (potentially unwanted programs).

A. If your computer will boot and you can operate it ok...

Download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Note: If you can\'t do the download on your machine, do it on a friend\'s, put them on a thumb drive, and install them from it). Then scan your computer with each program, and quarantine anything found.

B. If your computer won\'t boot, or can\'t operate properly after boot...

Tap F8 when you are booting, select "Safe Mode With Networking". Download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Note: If you can\'t do the download on your machine, do it on a friend\'s, put them on a thumb drive, and install them from it). Then scan your computer with each program, and quarantine anything found.

C. If this process finds malware, to keep stuff like that from coming back, I recommend you get the paid version of Malwarebytes.

If you still get the popup, check your msconfig and task scheduler, researching each item to make sure it is legitimate.

Slow respond

Could be your operating system either has a virus or has become corrupt or there are too many processes running in the back round that are eating up all the memory. You can try some simply fixes such as downloading a program called RegSeeker, this program will allow you to clean your registry and get rid of any unwanted startup programs. It can be found on the web as a free and safe download from here. Just click the blue download button and extract the folder and run regseeker, first clean your registry by running the cleaner and selecting all and deleting them. Then go to startup programs and get rid of any unwanted startup programs running. If none of this seems to help, you will need to reinstall your operating system with the disc, i can walk you through it depending on which one it is.

Cpu is running at 100% and memory is at 80%. how can i fix this problem. computer is very slow.

There are many reasons for this issue.

1. CPU over heating: Make sure CPU fan is working very well and the ventilation of your system is not closed by dusts and all. its better remove all the dust from CPU.

2. Virus : Its happening sometimes because of some viruses. You need to install a good anti-virus and scan your system completely

3.Unwanted programs running behind.: Check your systems add/remove programs for the list of programs installed in your system. Remove the programs you are not using so far.

4. Excessive storage of temp files and caches : You need to remove all this unwanted stuffs from your system, see the step by step instructions on how to remove all this here

5. Virtual memory: Increase some virtual memory of your system. see the instructions here

6. Do a diskclean up and free some disk space of C Drive. see the instructions here

7. Stop unwanted programs at start up : see the instructions here

Do this things and see the result. still its showing the same issue you need to take your system to nearest shop

Tb system mechanic

Download Revo Uninstaller from www.download.com this is a free download and a freeware program. Once you install it, run it and it will list all programs loaded in your machine. Choose system mechanic from the list and click on option (4) say yes to all questions concerning uninstalling and wait for program to get rid of it. When it finishes each scan, click next and answer yes to get rid of files and then click next when it is finished. This program will not only get rid of the program but all its registry files as well. Then download a program called Malwarebytes Malware from www.filehippo.com and install and run that and perform a quick scan. when the scan is complete it will show its results, click on remove and it will get rid of any malware that is masquerading as a legit program.

I have trojans. I also have many files i dont need. My computer needs to get rid of files and see what files i need or dont need

Dear rathcolbert,

Kindly note that some of the files might be pager files, system files, or log files and at times it is better to keep.

To scan for trojans, you can use a program such as: Ad-Aware

Have a good day.

Regards,

W.
