I cannot see anything on my LCD nor can I see anything in my view finder?

But everything works on touch screen and the VCR mode. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue with my camera - did anyone get a resolution or get the camera fixed? If so how much did it cost?

    Cheers

I have the same problem, I didn't do anything to my camera - no dropping it or the like. One day I turned it on and it would only show black in the camera (record) mode - but plays any tape back fine in playback. All the settings are normal, my exposure is not turned all the way down, lens cap is off - all other settings on 'auto'.

I'd love to know if there's a fix!

Another forum had a user who mentioned that it might be the CCD chip degenerated - was an expensive repair - $AUD500 to replace the chip on a Sony DCR-TRV33E. http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/...

I will try getting my camera checked out, but may as well buy a new one at that price - the DCR-TRV22E was not a very expensive camcorder.

My problem is with black screen only no sound. I have no picture in record or play-back mode. Is this a simple cure?

Same problem, i wonder if its the manufacturer defect or someting, because I'm very careful with my things and I never drop it and it seems that just one day it didn't work as it supposed to be. please help! thanks!

How to troubleshoot a video camera when the LCD screen is dark or has no display, in a Sony handycam DCR TRV22E mini

If you see correct picture in Eye Piece view finder but dark picture in LCD that shows problem with connecting flexible wire between LCD board and Camcorder main board. It got cracked/ damaged or broken after some time due to open/ close of LCD in its position.
Replace that flexible wire and problem will be solved.
Post back further question if you have any.
Thanks.

This camera may have a lens problem??

Hi,
Let me know bit detail of problem...
You can not see live view on LCD and view finder in camera mode and can playback old recordings and picture result is OK,
If yes, then its bad ccd imager problem and ccd imager will be replaced.

DCR-TRV265E is PAL camera and I assume that you are in UK.

Here I provide you information to save 400 or some thing.
Sony will repair ccd imager problem free of cost. You can have details on Sony CCD Support.

Focus issues

Hi,
My reply is bit technical. Your camera requires Flang-Back Adjustment.
Above said adjustment will set focus lenses in correct order / position to obtain crispy focus as it was before.
There are few special tools designed by Sony used in Flang-Back adjustment and only Sony Service Centers can perform such adjustments. Non-Sony repair shops do not have such things.
Just for reference, below view shows required tools for adjustments in this model.

Gray LCD Screen

http://www.sony.ca/sonyca/view/english/warranty/productalert2.shtml
When the product is used in camera mode, the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and/or electronic viewfinder displays either a distorted image or no image at all.

Sony Corporation has determined that this condition occurs very rarely, but may be accelerated if an affected product is exposed to high temperature and/or high humidity environments.

In an effort to ensure customer satisfaction, Sony of Canada Ltd. has elected to offer, effective October 3, 2005, free out-of-warranty repair to owners of affected Sony digital camera, camcorder and PDA products that exhibit the aforementioned condition caused by the image sensor device.
