I have a dell 3300MP projector. When starting up the Dell logo is displayed fine. After about 1 minute the unit goes to a solid amber temp light status. Projector display turns off. Unit shows "projector over heating" in the display. What I think it is? Bad Ballast Bad temp sensor What I've tried. Vacuumed out the entire thing. This baby is clean. Questions Are there instructions on how to find a ballast to repair it with - as a DIY job. I assume I can get the parts from ballastwise.com (although parts for dell projectors are hard to get since Optoma keeps a lid on it). Are there instructions on how to purchase, and replace the temp sensor <--which is what I really think is wrong with it. Thanks for you assistance in trying to resurrect the $10 garage sale purchase.

Make sure the cooling fan is working and air is reaching the light source, you can hear it running (low whirling noise) when you turn it on, if not that is the problem.

SOURCE: Dell 3100MP Projector - No Signal Check Cable

Make sure you have the right input source selected. It may be looking for a signal from some input other than the one you're connected to. Beyond that, if it truly isn't seeing the input then you'll need to have the projector serviced.

SOURCE: Dell 1100MP Projector, unit stopped working, I

This is a very common problem with these projectors. The fans lock up and the units are out of warrenty. The fan you replace it with must be the exact same as the old one, even though it is the same as a 5$ computer fan. The processor will detect the non-dell fan and shutdown in the same way.I Havent been able to find any replacement fans that will work. I may be interested in buying your broken projector from you if you give up.

Email me at: nalexandrov251[A-T]gmail.com and we might be abe to work something out.

SOURCE: Where can I purchase a power supply for my Dell 1800MP Projector?

I will repair these projectors for you at a cost of $40 plus actual shipping from me to you. You would pay the shipping cost to me. Considering the effort it takes to repair one of these units, this is a fair price. I have repaired numerous of these units with 100% success. My occupation is working as a power supply designer for one of the largest manufacturers of drivers for LED lighting. [email protected]

Need replacement color wheel for 3300MP, where can I purchase one?

I had the same issue and it is impossible to find a new one and Dell is extremely expensive on repairs. You need to find a used Dell on Ebay or an Infocus X2. The X2 has the same color the only catch is that there is black timing marker on the motor that is the wrong position for the Dell projectors. I was able to compare the broken one to the new one and moved it to the proper position and everything worked fine. There are a lot more X2 projectors out there on Ebay.

Projector

A couple of things...

If the fan is not working, the lamp will not fire. If you have the owner's manual, it should indicate what the flashing lights mean. Check to make sure that the panels are seated properly. When you replaced the lamp, the outer cover was removed. If that is not seated back 100%, the unit will not work. There are a number of safety "checks" built into the unit to prevent damage and possibly fire as the lamps get really hot.

Check the items above and let us know your progress.

No lit / projected image even with a new bulb!

Let me add...

I had one 3300MP and removed/replaced the bulb to dust off as it was overheating. There is a small metal like switch that resets the bulb replacement (physical switch - take a good look) -- This helped to reset the first time I did this, but doesn't reset the hours on the chip.

However, since this bulb was problematic for me, I have done this a couple of times and since has stopped powering the bulb now. So, thinking it was the bulb, I replaced the bulb, -- No good... So, thinking it was the projector, I bought a new/refurbished one on ebay -- tested the NEW bulb - NO GOOD. now I have TWO PROJECTORS, THREE BULBS and NOTHING THAT WORKS...

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
