Hi. I have recently purhased an Acoustic Solutions DVDRW300 DVD Recorder. I have no instruction manual and have no idea how to set it up or work it!! Please help as im totally useless!!

Hello!
I am assuming that you want to INPUT your TV/Cable Box to your DVDRW, and have the DVDRW then be able to OUTPUT to the TV.
Here's what you need to do:
1. Locate the OUTPUTS of your TV/Cable box at the back of your set. There should either be the RCA jacks (Yellow/White/Red), S-Video, VGA, DVI or HDMI . Make sure that they are OUTPUTS. It'll probably say TV-out or just out.

2. Locate the INPUTS of your DVDRW. Similarly, it should either be the RCA jacks (Yellow/White/Red), S-Video, VGA, DVI or HDMI. Ensure that they are INPUTS.

3. Match up the outputs to the inputs. Now, I have listed the OUTPUT/INPUTS going from lowest quality to highest quality. So let's say your TV has RCA, S-Video and HDMI outputs, and your DVDRW has only RCA and S-Video. HDMI is ruled out, unless you get a converter (which is pretty pricey). Choose which one, and buy/use the right cables.

4. Here are the connections for each type of OUT/IN. (TV/Cable >>>>> DVDRW)
  • RCA (Yellow/White/Red) >>>>> RCA (Yellow/White/Red)
  • S-Video + RCA (White/Red) >>>>> S-Video + RCA (White/Red)
  • VGA + RCA (White/Red) >>>>> VGA + RCA (White/Red)
  • DVI + RCA (White/Red) >>>>> DVI+ RCA (White/Red)
  • HDMI >>>>> HDMI
5. Connecting the DVDRW back to the TV. So now, you can record whatever is playing live on your TV. But you also want to play things from your DVDRW on your TV. Check the OUTPUTS of the DVDRW. It should have either the same jacks as the INPUTS. Check the INPUTS of the TV.
6. Follow Step 4, and 5. Note that for connections, you are going from the OUT of the DVDRW to one of the INs of the TV. Keep track of what INPUT on the TV you are connecting to.
Voila! Let's test it, though. Now, turn your TV and DVDRW on. Put in a DVD (a movie perhaps) in your DVDRW. On your TV, switch the channel to the INPUT channel you used. You should see your movie. If not, try another INPUT on your TV.
If it's fine, then let's try recording a TV show. Switch the channel on your TV to whatever you want to watch, say Cartoon Network. Put in a blank DVD in your player/recorder. Hit record on the player. Let it record about 2-3 minutes, and stop recording.
Switch the TV back to the INPUT which works, and hit play on the DVDRW. You should see what you recorded.
Hope this helps!

Compaq presario sr1800nx won't turn on

Check the jumper settings on the DVDRW. Depending on IDE location, you need to set the jumpers accordingly. If you have the main system hard drive on the same IDE channel as the DVDRW, set the jumpers on the DVDRW to slave, if that don't work, set them to Cable Select. I'm assuming it's an IDE drive and not SATA.

IBM NetVista: can't replace CDROM with DVDRW

Some DVDRW's need to have there independent port. Go to your bios and change your start up to your hard drive instead of CD if this is the case. Check and see what USB driver your running. Should be running 2.0 or higher, this means that it is high speed. The problem I see is that your computer is picking up the DVDRW first and the drivers are not installed. Go to the manufacture web site and download the most recent drivers. If you can't find the site just let me know. Let me know what brand, and model you have and I'll send you the link.

I have a dell inspiron 700 and a hp dvdrw. the dell recogonizes the dvdrw and downloads, but when i try to burn, nothing happens.

Uninstall the software for the DVDRW then reinstall. Next check to see if you need to defrag the hard drive. Analyze first then do defrag on hard drive.

I have a Zd8000 hp laptop and the cd rom doesnt read or write but if i insert a dvd it work reads and writes the disk, how do i go about fixing this issue, mark

That is a lens problem, CDRW and DVDRW use different focus , and the lens is working only on DVD , try using a lens cleaner disk.
That probably will not work, in that case replace the DVDRW that is not an expensive part.

try going into setup; choose boot options and place your HDD in first boot position. Also you may have to designate your new DVDRW as a slave if you have another CD/DVD in the system

Dvd rw drive not reading discs (DVD and CD)

Hi,
That sound to me like a defective dvdrw because it can't read the dvd an try to re read and re read and lock the computer until you take it out.

Solution:

Tools:
+ Small screwdriver

Buy a new or used dvdrw for laptop, first take out the laptop battery. Locate the two screws at bottom of your laptop, take them out, whit a paper clip open the dvdrw from a small hole in front of it, pull the defective dvdrw out, if the front plastic face plate is diferent from yours you can change them using a small - screwdriver (be carefull). If you dvdrw have a smalls canals at sides in your defective dvdrw take them out and put them in the new one two, Install the new dvdrw by slowly pushing in to the dvdrw hole until it take its place, put the two screw drivers back + the battery and you shuold be on your way.
