Question about Black & Decker 19" Electric Lawnhog Mulching Mower with Rear Bag

Thermal cut-off switch

Does the B&D MM575 electric mower have a thermal cut-off switch to prevent the electric motor from overheating? My mower motor dies occasionally, then will start back up again in a few minutes. The manual does not mention this at all.

Hey, I'm having the exact same problem. It dies. I wait 5 minutes it works. Checked batteries, they're good. Hammer Drill's answer did not make sense to me. Jeff

No thermal cut-off. check for the switch terminal & the terminal where u plug the extension if all right. any dis-colorization on switch terminal may sign of burnt out inside. for further info check out for pictures etc.

Electric mower keeps slowing down and stopping

Two things come to mind. The brushes in the motor should be replaced. (Get them at a local motor repair shop, but take one of them in with you to get the correct one). If that is not the problem it may be the switch in the handle that you turn it on and off with. The switch may be corroded or bent. Good luck...Lee

Electric dryer cuts off when it gets hot

I assume you mean it completely shuts off. If the motor switch or belt switch were bad the dryer wouldn't start at all. the 2 thermal fuse are not resettable so they cannot correct themselves either. sounds like the motor overheating, this could be due to poor airflow.
usually caused by a poor vent system (non metallic or many elbows), or a bad motor. If motor squeals after 10 or 15 minutes (or less) it is likely bad. occasionally an old lint filter becomes clogged if you use dryer sheets, pour water on it and see if it holds in the filter. if so it should be replaced. you could scrub it in hot soapy water as a temporary fix or test.
