How do you test the first and secondary coils

  • pwharriso Feb 14, 2009

I traded my electric dryer for this gas dryer. It is the same model. It worked great and very efficiently for two months, now, it turns on runs the cycle, heats up but during the cycle the heat goes off.

  • Anonymous Feb 15, 2009

when cold, the gas will light at beginning of cycle but after it gets hot it shuts off. It tries to light again during the cycle but won't. If the dryer is left off for awhile, it will light again but goes through the same as described above.

Gas dryer heats then stops, then heats then stops,

Vacuum out the exhaust and intake vents for the burner which tend to collect lint and impede air flow.

Hi

Things that could stop a electric dryer from heating:
  • house fuse or breaker ( needs two of them )
  • heating element, burnt wire
  • thermostat(s), thermal fuse ( not all models ),
  • motor heat switch, timer, selector switch,
  • burnt power cord/plug.
You can check these things using an ohmmeter/multimeter from here.
