It may be that the lid switch is going bad. raise the lid and look for a button that gets pressed in when the lid closes. if you can push in on the switch with a small screwdriver or butter knife and the machine runs, then that is your problem. closing the lid had sounds like a switch problem

Washer stops during normal wash cycle for a minute or more, and then continues. Would replacing the timer fix it?

If it actually goes on and finishes the cycle and that really bothers you replace it. If not leave it alone and allow a little more time to complete its cycle. The lid switch only keeps the spin cycle from going with the top open.

80 series kenmore washing machine will not drain or spijn

If the switch is good you should hear a click when door is opened. Another click just before it closes. Sometimes they just need adjusted, or the actuator is broken or needs adjusted. TThe door lid switch sounds like the culprit in this case. It affects both functions. How about a video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjFuQQbj3-8

Washer sometimes halts after filling. Sometimes opening and closing the lid brings it back to life. Sometimes moving the dial brings it back to life. Sometimes nothing brings it back to life. The problem...

been a servicer for 18 years and had one yesterday that had me in a daze for a bit ,but finally figured it out... it was doing the same thing and if you pulled on the timer knob sometimes it would restart and sometimes you had to move it to the next cycle to get it working...it seemed to always happen on the spin cycle or rinse when the unit was suppose to start the tub operation... i finally determined it had bad contacts in the timer and had to replace it for the customer.... hope this helps you out... wish you luck

Whirlpool Washer stops after 6 minutes.

sounds like the lid switch. if that switch is located at the back left you can bend the switch bracket. it may be making intermittent contact.

Agitator no longer moving

sounds like you may have burned out the lid switch. if it is not working the timer thinks the lid is not closed and will not advance.

Kenmore washing machine model 110 wash cycle stops

DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)

2242210 will not spin..wash cycle is fine

Could be several things, but the most common is the lid switch. The little plastic rod on the lid strikes it when the lid is closed. Make sure the switch is not broke. You should hear it click when the lid is closed. If not then it is definitely that.
