I have had the exact same problem with this camera.

I have aquired several replacement cameras (including a Nikon D90, Canon SD850IS), knowing that the process and cost of repair of most consumer electronic items is usually not worth the effort, but I do want to repair this camera so I can either use it as a back-up or give it to one of my kids when they are old enough.

The lens assembly needs a repair service.

Either it as internal damaged parts, or a moving part got stuck.

This mean a professional repair service for it.

The cost of it may be $120.00 or more in most camera repair centers.

Blurry picture if zoom is used ( no Sharp mage)

I'm out of practice because my camera suddenly stopped working 6 months ago, but I don't recall having a problem with blurry pictures when I used the zoom. Sometimes, it takes a few seconds for a pic to come into clear focus. I think the trick is to just keep working with it.

Sports mode is meant for constant or fast movement. Its used mainly for sporting events.

The mode you should keep it in is Auto. In this mode you will see that there will be no blurry pics.

Unable to take pictures

Your camera will need a lens. Contact Canon regarding repairs (it may be covered due to a CCD Imager fault)

Blurry pictures

wipe off the lense with a clothe or something, that might be the problem. Or if you move the cam too much when you are trying to take a pic, that also mighht be the problem. If not, I have no idea.

My lens of my canon powershot s21s camera would not contract and I cannot take pictures. When I try to use it I get a code saying E18 and a beeping sound.

I have had several digital cameras that when the lens is extended and the camera is dropped or the lens is bumped, the lens itself will become "off track" and will not retract or work without have the whole camera taken apart

Powershot SD30 taking blurry pics.

dust could have gotten insode making the focus lens to stick.

you might have to take it to a camera shop for a good cleaning.

dusty places are always bad for electronics.

but sounds like the focus lens is failing, there might be an option to clean the lens electroniclly, most canon has the option. not sure about sony.

good luck

Canon PowerShot A75 - LCD screen & pictures blury when taking pics

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:
