The software is really bad it won't work for mine either. The update for it is to fix it because sometimes it freezes up and you have to press the reset button on the back. I wouldn't mind updating if were you

Philips media converter wont work it says my device is not connected and conversion wont start at all

For some reason, if you have Adobe's CMM installed on your computer, the Media Converter for Philips is unable to start up and will error out every time. You have to uninstall Adobe's CMM (any version), once you do that, the Media Converter for Philips by ArcSoft will work as it should. I found this conflict when I viewed the error in Windows Event Viewer where it listed that the conflict was being caused by the Adobe CMM.dll, I uninstalled Adobe's CMM from my system and the media converter works fine now.

Not able to play video in philips gogear pls suggets

Hello,

Media players need the matching video format: for GoGear Vibe it is SMV.
To convert video from AVI to SigmaTel Motion Video, use the Media Converter Software from the manufacturer. For the videos you'd like to convert, be sure to update video codecs in Windows Media Player 10 or higher.

Vibe players have different display sizes, so you'll need the matching Converter for your player.
When you have the United States version SA5285/37 next site gives all support, including the Arcsoft video converter:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA5285/37&slg=en&scy=US
note
There's and update for the Arcsoft converter, for downloading directly YouTube films:
click on EXTRAS at the top right hand corner of the Arcsoft main screen.
At the pull down menu click UPDATE AND PATCHES, Arcsoft will check
and let user download and install the updated Stream Ripper feature
( streaming videos need flv video codec )

Philips 2GB Go Gear wont upload vidoe

You have to use the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter to convert/transfer videos. If the converter is not recognizing a specific video type - FLV, for instance - download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder and convert the videos to AVI format first. Then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them.

The Philips Media Converter is not capable of converting an entire DVD - you will have to acquire video editing software, and then break up the DVD files into 15-minute chunks, and then convert each chunk.

If you are getting a codec error, do a google search for free video codecs - they are out there. Windows Codec Pack and downloading the latest version of quicktime will give you most of these needed codecs.

This player is not capable of playing copyright-protected videos - so don't even bother with them.

Additional information is available both from Philips website and from Arcsoft's website.

My philips sa6045/97 is not running video files having extn. .wav

You have to run the video files through the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter - if you have lost your installation CD with the converter on it, or instruction book, they are available for free from Philips website. If the updated version of the Philips Media Converter doesn't recognize the files you are trying to transfer, run the files through a free program called Riva FLV Encoder - convert the files to AVI format, and then the Philips Media Converter will recognize them.
