I have the whitish picture problem as well. I have to open up my pictures now with a graphics program and try and "fix" them. It's very upsetting. I also have a ghosty horizontal line that appears in the LCD window. It becomes darker and lighter with exposure to light, and it moves as I "snap" pictures. When my photos download each one has a pink line across the top. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Same issue here, horizontal lines, and the pictures look as they are over-exposure. Camera goes into a clicking mode/sound when I move towards a lit area. I tried different settings, but nothing helps. Is this may the end of my camera?

I'm having the same problem -- pictures are whitish and extemely washed out, with white lines all over them :( I have loved this camera but feel like this may be the end, 4 years wasn't a bad run for it. Any help, though, would be appreciated!

try setting your camera's auto balance into Automatic or Outdoor. So the camera could adjust the light or diable flash.

SOURCE: photo quality

It will be grainy a bit specially in digital zoom and even in optical zoom to the full level it might become grainy as camera is unable to absorb all the light from distant object......

alter your white balance and use ISO 100 setting You may also want to make sure you have outside setting selected. This sounds like overexposure and is due to incorrect white balance.

Red hazy screen when view pictures. Also offloads to computer that way.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Foggy lens! It needs cleaning or buffing.. you have to open the unit to be able to clean it, thats the setback of fixed lens cameras!
