First off is the wireless network "2WIRE 726" owned by you or someone you know? If yes ask the owner for the password, if no, then short of doing something illegal then you can't get on that network unless you get permission and the password from the owner.
Your best course of action at this point would be to setup your own network and connect to that.
An alternative would be to go to a public location (Starbucks, McDonalds a library and connect to their free wireless and download some books considering you only need a connection to download the books and not to read them)
It could be the router which is giving you issue. Press and hold the reset button for 30 second and this makes the configuration to go back to its previous settings. The reconfigure the router with a new SSID and security key. Try connecting to the wireless network, the computers will consider it as a new network and will connect without any issues
For some 2wire device you will find the wireless password underneath it its commonly a combination of 10 digit there should be a sticker on the 2wire and look for that 10 digit code if you cannot find it there contact your Internet Provider so the can provide you that wireless key.......
If your router configure as WEP or WAP it ask for password to connect for security.
For that connect your router to computer with ethernent cable to computer then access it with following link. http://192.168.1.1
For belkin router default link is http://192.168.15.2
type user name as "admin" and password a s"admin" or blank or 'password"
then check in wi fi security if it is cinfigured as WEp or WAP you find its password in that but it is in * or # format so set new password so you can remember it.
then save settings and restart .
But if your router has no any security then you not need password to connect it.
Most of the 2wire gateways have the WEP key or the encryption code on the bottom of it. It would a 10 digit Number of a Five Character one within square brackets. Other wise you can go to the gateway page by accessing http://192.168.1.1 on another system which is already going online using the gateway or wired to it and in the gateway page under wireless you would find the WEP key incase the default key on the bottom of the 2wire does not work.
Do reply incase this has resolved your issue or you need more help.
The 2Wire 2700 is a residential gateway, a modem and router in-one. There is an RJ-11 jack in the back of the gateway and this is where your dsl phone cord plugs in. There are four RJ-45 jacks in the back for connecting devices using ethernet cable. As a router is can operate both wirelessly and wired. For wireless operation you'll need the WEP key which is located on the tag on the bottom of the gateway. It's the number enclosed in brackets, between the two bar codes.
The WEP number is in a wireless router near you, you must have a wireless router been setup in your home, then you have to program it. you choose your wep key code and only will have access to this wireless network.
