The light bulb in the oven is burned out. According to the owners manual, I remove the glass cover by turning it counterclockwise. The cover will not turn either way to release. I have to get my head out of the oven. Help please.

Re: LG LRE30451SW range
The interior oven light in most ovens is a standard 40 watt appliance bulb. Often, to change the bulb, you first need to remove a shield or glass dome. If the bulb isn't burned out, the problem may be with the switch on the oven door frame. If the switch works poorly, intermittently, or not at all, you need to replace it.

Sometimes those glass covers are real hard to turn. Get one of those rubber "mats" or "grippers" designed to help your remove stubborn jar lids (that you can pick up at Ace or True-Value Hardware Stores) and try that. You may also find it helpful to remove the oven door, if the cover is really stubborn.
I hope this may help you if it doesnt have visible screwss etc.
Sometimes the glass lenses are held in place by clips behind them which are not visible.
I am not familiar with your machine but I suspect the lens in thick glass and is slightly 'proud' of the oven side.
You have to have faith that it wont break it, but you have to CAREFULLY lever the lens out of its fitting using something like a blunt screwdriver. Once you get one side started, you will get the idea. The bulb is right behind it.
Open the oven door and you should see screws on the overhang where the door fits in,take those off and that should loosen the whole top of the stove, then you will see what to do next and what you have to remove to replace what you need, hope this helps some what.
Before doing any work on an electric range or oven, make sure it's unplugged, or turn off the power to the unit by removing one or more fuses or tripping one or more breakers at the main entrance panel or at a separate panel. If the range is fused at a separate panel, this panel may be located adjacent to the main panel or in a basement, crawl space, or other location. If there is a grounding wire to the range, disconnect it. Make sure the power to the unit is off.
you'll want to replace it using these simple instructions.
Make sure the bulb is actually burned out. Confirm the oven is plugged in and that a circuit breaker is not tripped.
Look for the manual to determine what size bulb is required. Most use a 40 watt appliance bulb. If you can not find the manual, then buy a bulb to replace it after you take out the old one.
3Confirm that the oven is not on. Allow it to cool to room temperature if it has recently been used.4
Open the door and use a flashlight to light the area where the bulb is located. Do not put weight on the door itself, but go in at an angle or sideways.
Find the shield or cover over the bulb, gently pull or twist it off. Some glass covers are surrounded by a wire clip or a ring that is screwed in to the back. 6
Gently remove either the wire clip or ring. Since the cover is most likely glass, be cautious. Unscrew the entire glass cover similar to a jar lid in older versions of ovens. Then repeat process if there is more than one bulb. In most microwaves you simply have to take the cover off by unscrewing holding screws. Replacing bulb is pretty straightforward, simply take out holding screws, disconnect leads, and remove bulb from place. To install new one, reverse steps. Usually it is really hard to find replacement parts. It is usually better if you take microwave name, model and serial number, and take info to a place that specializes in appliances
Tips & Warnings
Consider replacing the switch on the oven door if you replace the bulb and the light still does not work. Shut the door and open a few times or press the button manually to see if the light works randomly or not at all. hope this helps thanks and Godbless
Try taking the cover for the fan and element off -- I found this is the only way of getting a decent grip on the glass. It's four Philips screws. Obviously make very sure the oven's properly cold and isolate the electricity supply before you do it!
