Hi. I hope you have solved this by now. I've just had the same problem. You need to reformat your memory card (make sure you download your photos first as it will erase everything on the card). Then go into the set-up part of the menu on the camera. In there you should find the option -FRAME NO. This will be set on continuous. Select the option that says RENEW. This will reset the frame number counter. Once you have done this go back into the FRAME NO menu and set it back to continous. You can now start taking photos again as the counter has been reset.

What size is the memory card. If it's larger than 4GB then it won't work in the 5118.
Try using another card. Don't format it in your computer but do format it in the camera before trying to take pictures.

Your card is probably good. Go into the camera's setup menu and find the picture storage or memory section. Select external memory as default and you should be good to go.

FUJI Finepix A700 The picture count will not reset and I have tried various empty cards. In essence it is saying the memory is full when there is 2G open on the card. I noticed it was not resetting...

This camera has a frame count capacity far beyond what is normally conceivable at a whopping 999-9999 images so I'm going to assume that the frame counter has been corrupted and given a faults count. This can be reset but first the card needs to be formatted to this camera. I've done a screen shot of the sequence because it's easier for me and will show you were and what functions need to be carried out. Also this count can be upset by opening the battery door or removing the memory card while the camera is still in the power on position hope this solves your problem.

When the memory card is in the camera, you see the card contents, not the internal memory. Take the card out, then delete all the photos you can find. The camera needs space on the internal memory to work, even if the memory card is empty.

It says "frame no full" and won't take any pics, even though the memory card is empty

You have reached image No. 999-9999 somehow :-)
Press Menu/OK, select Setup, Select Frame No., switch from Cont. to Renew, Press OK.
Format the card. Numbering has now started from 1 again.
Switch Frame No. back to Cont.

How do I switch between internal memory and memory card?

When you remove the card, can you review the pictures that are on the internal memory? If you can and you want to save them, download them to your computer. Then, with the memory card still out of the camera, format the internal memory.
