Question about Hitachi 53SBX01B 53" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

Hitatchi 53sbx10b the picture pulls in from the top and Bottom. and the colors are not lined up. Done a little research and found this could be a convergance problem? and some IC's could be burned out. Is this a part that can be replaced myself?

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Solution #1

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Hitachi 53SBX10B-color and horizontal lines issues

with the original Hitachi remote go into the customer menu and select convergence---you should get a cross in the middle of the screen--look to see which color will not move either up and down or left and right---sounds like bad convergence IC and this is not uncommon in most rear projection sets---if this is the problem the set uses two convergence output IC chips that both should be replaced and then the set adjusted in the Technical menu----the convergence mode can be engaged by removing the front grill and an inspection plate behind it and pushing a small micro switch located on the front of the board; when the switch is engaged with the set turned on a grid of lines will appear on the screen and then the set is adjusted with the remote---hope this was helpful---if you need direct assistance you can contact me : etower.766@netzero.net

Thats what happened your convergence went out, those parts can be found online for as little as 12.50 a piece. If you are good with solder its an easy fix. I found a guy on craigslist in denver who fixed it for 150

Tv set picture is gone

It depends, the center line you speak of, does it go from side to side? Or top to bottom? Side to side you have problems in the vertical circuit. Top to bottom you have a problem in the horizontal circuit. Not picture tube problem. If it is an analog tv and depending on how old it is. What an estimate and the actual repair would be you are better off buying a new one.

Samsung hl-r4266w bottom black line

Your DMD board is now misaligned. It can happen when you changed the color wheel. All you have to do is pull up on your DMD board. I would use both hands, one on each corner of the DMD board and just a little at a time until you get it the way you want it. If you have a space at the top, then just push the DMD board down the same way.

Convergence problem.

This sounds like one of your convergence IC's has burned out or its solder joints have cracked loose. Sometimes when this happens it burns up one or more of the 3 low-value resistors next to it. This should be repaired and realigned by someone with experience.
