Question about Jenn-Air JES9800A Electric Kitchen Range

Credo Glass Cooktop ignition click

We have a Creda glass cooktop. The ignition switches on the burners will not stop clicking, even with the burners on. We believe this is b/c the burners got wet. For a while, we could turn on the flame and it would stop clicking, but start again as soon as we turned the flame off. Now that isn't working and we can't reach anyone at Credo till Monday. I tried turning off all the breakers in the kitchen except the fridge, and that didn't work. I have no idea where the main switch or plug or whatever is b/c it's built into the countertop. (It was here when we moved in.)

Even the dog has a headache. HELP!

We baught the stove in 95, it worked fine for a few years. It started clicking about about 2001. We had the ignition changed at at cost of about $200. Now it's been clicking for about a year off and on. It's too expensive to keep changing the ignition. Also the metal rings have deteriated (rusted through)
Does anyone know where one can buy parts for the stove. This is a problem when one buys a foreign made product

I have same prob. It started with all off in the middle of the night.
All four burners on. I discovered it, lit all burners, trying to burn off an dampness. Three stopped clicking, but right front remains.
    Any help?

SOURCE: spark ignitor won't stop clicking

Dry the ignitors and see if that works. If not, then get new ignitors.

SOURCE: Igniter continuously clicks

I had this problem. It was caused by the burner "thinking" the flame had turned off--it was clicking because it was sparking to re-start the flame from the gas. I was able to fix it by tightening a flat, thin nut at the top of the burner.

Is the gas able to flow freely through and out of the bad burners? Sounds like they may be clogged somehow

How to remove glass top from GE Gas Cooktop

You are correct. You have to remove the screws. If you break them off then you will most likely have to replace the burner inlets and get new screws. I would not worry about getting underneath quite yet. You mentioned that you hear clicking which means that at least one of your burners has a working igniter. Do you have gas at the burners, and do any of them light normally?

Stove top ignition doesn't stop ticking

My Dacor cooktop had a similar problem of continuously clicking igniters. I unplugged it a couple months ago and used a piezoelectric igniter to get it started. Then I looked in the Dacor FAQ and it said to clean the ceramic igniter posts with alcohol not water. I had to scrape some gunk off a couple of the posts with a knife before cleaning with alcohol. Now it works.'

I think the igniters use electrical conductivity to detect when they need to spark, so even slight invisible contamination on the igniter insulator can confuse the sensing system. Also they all seem to fire as a group, so all of them need to be clean because if any one of them is dirty then they will all malfunction.

Clicking noise on cooktop even when all burners ignite

I have a viking gas cooktop. The ignitor on one of my front burners wouldn't stop clicking even after the flame ignited. I swapped that ignitor with the ignitor from a back burner, expecting that the problem was with the ignitor and that the back burner would start to click incessantly, but at least I'd have my favorite front burner for use. Instead, the front burner was then only clicking 50% of the time and the back burner was fine, suggesting the problem was related to the burner not the ignitor. I pulled the front ignitor a bit away from the burner and now it is working normally. Hope this helps.

Gaggenau clicking

Sounds like the spill got into one of the burner switches. This is not a big problem. Once it drys out it should return to normal. However if it keeps on clicking it could mean that one of the switches shorted out and will need to be replaced. The switches are located under the burner control knobs on the valve. Hope this helps.
