Question about Lite On Laars Lite 2 Heaters: 250,000BTU MV Heater

1 Answer

Pool Heater repair

Our 4 year old Laars Lite2 heater will not start. The pool company cleaned it out and put in some new wires-it worked while they were here but did not start the next day. They came again and put in a new on/off switch. Again it worked while they were here but shut off after a few hours and we are not able to start it again. It uses propane gas which was filled just prior to the repairs. Can you reccommend some capable to repair our heater. We live in Brick,NJ (Ocean County) Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

My Laars 2 lite pool heater will not ignite, I have the same problem every year for the first ignition. The pilot is lit. I removed the filter to make sure it is not the pressure.

you might need to bleed the line to get fuel to the heater core. If there is a bubble in the line it will prevent the heater from working. Usually, there is a bleeder valve on the heater unit -- unscrew this and let some of the fuel drain out (into a container) and give it another shot. It should light right up after bleeding the line. If the fuel that you took out of the bleeder valve looks clean, you can then put it back in the fuel tank and it should be fine.
If this is a natural gas heater, there will be no bleeder valve -- you should have it looked at by a professional repair person. Natural gas is very dangerous and should only be repaired by a qualified professional to avoid serious injury or death.

About 4 years ago I had a LAARS MAX boiler installed with a Beckett burner and a Superstor water heater. All works well - except minor problem with burner needing to be reset occasionally. BUT when I...

First off they are not suppose to be installing a boiler that is not CSA approved. Your best bet is to contact Laars find out the real truth. I do know Laars was bought out by another company a few years ago, but the Installation company needs to stand by their product and be held accountable.

If unit is not request a new boiler or threaten talking to better business bureau Customers have rights. It also can be a liability to them.

Good luck let me know how it turns out

Laars lite 2 pool heater burner not lite

If the pilot flame is not strong enough, it will not tell the gas valve to open, or if the gas valve is not getting the signal to open, it won't. Check all wire connections at the thermostat and gas valve. Check ground wires. Clean the pilot light and flame rod.

Make sure gas valve is turned to the "On" setting. If it is, you may have a bad thermostat or break in the wiring. Check for mouse chewings.
