Installing mobo I have an EVGA nForce 650i ultra T1 version Socket 775 mobo, that I am installing into a Colorsit ATX- L8029 midtower, with a colorsit PSCI-480p PSUconnected. There is four leads that I need assistance in finding where they need to be connected. One set of leads come from the power-on pushbutton at the front of the colorsit case. On the backside of this switch at the top, there are two lead wires, one red and one black. The same also comes from the bottom of the switch. The four leads join up two inches from the back of the switch, like colors joined together making one red and one black wire that snakes around to the inside of the case where it is connected to a modular power connector with both female and male ends. FYI-there are two other wires that come out of that middle of the switch, a black and green which are labeled power switch" and I have them connected to the mobo. The other two leads that are in ?,are black and ayellow wires that come from what looks like a small round black speaker, about the size of a dime-(diameter) and 3/8 " thick. The wires continue around to the middle of the case like the others, but have a small flat four pin female mobo connector, with the yellow and black wires occupying the outside positions on the connector. (not labled)

Hi, this can be a common problem, get a small set of side cutters and gently split the plugs to seperate each one. then plug the 2 you need on to the board, turn them sideways so they do not interfere with each other. when pluged on the board you may need to swap them around till they work. Dont worry if you get them the wrong way around you will not do any harm. note there are no adaptors for these connections. Regards mistyman

SOURCE: Case wiring

For the wires that comes in your CPU casing, mostly used for your front panels like power switch, hdd status, power led, etc. It is indicated on the pins itself so you might not be confused. there are some that comes for front panel USB. (with codes like vcc+ /- ,etc.). The best you can do is to read your Mainboard manual on where you place this pins.

Insight/Decision help on new motherboard purchase.

talk about what you want with a computer repair shop
logically if the mobo is out of date , then you should be looking at the latest mobo and duel or quad core cpu
next all the os ,files and folders are on the hard drive and that can be installed in any new pc and will start and run
you have to consider this , the amount of ram has a bearing on the speed or the pc as it is used by the pc as a storage space as it moves data around as it performs the various operations
new mobo have 2 ram slots for 4gig ram sticks but you say that you only have 1gig of ram--compare 1 against 8 and see how much easier the pc will run
AS is said , talk with pc professionals ( not retailers ) and get the best advice before you flash the cash
