Question about ASUS Intel 810 Chipset MEW-AM Motherboard
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to install 2 RAM cards, each with 256MB PC-100 DIMM, to total 512. I tried installing just one of them, but machine wouldn't boot. I also did go to ASUS website before I posted to FixYa, but could not definitely determine which BIOS update should be used, and I am afraid I'll disable my whole computer if I download the wrong BIOS since I am not very tech-savvy. When I was reviewing your answer at FixYa, there was a link that somehow got me to a phone number at ASUS tech support, so i can try to speak directly with someone there on Monday. Any other suggestions you have would be most appreciated. Direct email to me is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The intel 810 chipset requires very specifically made 256meg sticks to support that much memory. the 256 meg standard has changed, and the 810 wont support the ram unless it is made by the old specs. smaller ram sticks such as 64 and 128 will not have this problem.
