Question about Philips Magnavox 27MS343S 27" TV
I have a Sanyo Tv that is about 9 years old, it's not an lcd or plasma, just the old kind. It has Dish Network, and a dvd player hooked up to it. While watching tv, it will go to static. Sometimes, it will happen every few minutes, other times it will go for several hours without a problem, then it will go to static. Sometimes the static only lasts for a few seconds, other times it lasts for up to 15 minutes. At first I thought it was the satellite receiver because it is also 9 years old, but it happens while watching dvd's also. Thanks for your help!
Without seeing it I would suspect a bad connection on the main board. As the board heats up the board expands and as it cools in contracts opening and closing a crack in the board. Sometimes a crack or bad solder joint both are sometimes hard to find and it is a lot of solder and wait and see.I have had some luck by tapping on the board with an insulated handel of a nut driver,.. the tv on and watching for any change. If i tapped around the board some areas were more sensitive than others. I then soldered that area. I would tap around again if the set did not react I assume the problem fixed
