Hotpoint fdw60 trips consumer unit when switch the plug switch
Hi i have a hotpoint fdw60 when i switch the plug on it trips the consumer unit i have had a look to see if there was any water on any electric wires and couldn't see any and was wondering if you new how to solve this regards paul my email address is firstname.lastname@example.org

I would agree with you. Everything you say here certainly points to a faulty heating element. The original is fitted with two factory fitted clips so you may need to go to your local garage and get two jubilee clips as they don't usually come with the new element.
Hi, Hotpoint FDW60 got a concealled element.
You need to unplug and disconnect the dw, lay it flat on its back and remove the bottom tray (depending on the final letter for your model (FDW60G, FDW60P, FDW60T) you might need to remove the side panels and kickboard to release the bottom tray). Carefull with the floater switch. You should be able to locate the element straight away. Replace it and reverse the process.
I've got a hotpoint dishwasher too with the same problem.. I'm going to have a crack at opening it up this evening to see if I can find the fault. It looks like corrosion on some of the wires can be a common cause for this. Will report back.
