The unit melted plastic pulley on bottom of washer moter
I have replaced the pulley now the washer will not spin out. What is the proper installation of the belt, how do you get the motor to stay in one position I have tried tighten the screws the the plastic but they don't to hold the motor in place.
Re: the unit melted plastic pulley on bottom of washer...
I had the some problem, replace the plastic pulley with the upgrade metal one. The motor is suppose to move freely in both directions,it slides on the plastic inserts, if you look to the plastic inserts there is a metal sleeve inside so it will not tight up . The motor rotate one direction to spin and the other to agitate. Try turning the other pulley it acts like a transmission and it may be engaged in the wrong direction. I just repaired my mother's washer the same way and it work fine now. Hope this will help others

Check hoses for Blockages or kinks, check belt & belt tension spring. sometimes the bottom centre plastic pulley wears & will not lift the brake properly, this then does not allow washer to get up to spin speed.
Hello, Does it sound like its spinning in regular and just not spinning? If So You may just need to replace the belt. Also this unit the motor pulley would melt and break. Lean the unit back and you can see the belt and pulley. Hope this helps and please dont forget to rate me. Thank You...
Google "kit for bottom of washer not spinning", you may get by with a thrust bearing kit and maybe a new belt(belt may be ok) You do not need any special tools, and kit comes with instructions. Kit is bottom pulley some plastic gears(not best description) above pulley and some shims(washers) You will need to read up a little to install correct washer to get right lift from pulley and gears to release brake for spin, good luck
WHICH PULLEY FELL OFF YOU HAVE 3 OF THEM ONE IS A "IDLER PULLEY FOR DRIVE BELT" ANOTHER IS "PLASTIC HELIX, TRANSMISSION DRIVE PULLEY" AND LASTLY IS "PULLEY FOR TRANSMISSION DRIVE" GO TO www.repairclinic.com ENTER MODEL NUMBER AND SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE RED 100 CLICK IT AND LOOK FOR PARTS 550204, 889619, AND 889618. YOU MAY HAVE TO WORK ON THIS FROM THE BOTTOM TO GET TO THE PULLEY. IF YOU HAVE A MECHANICALLY INCLINED FRIEND, IMPLORE HIM OR HER TO HELP YOU UNLESS YOU CAN GET THE TUB OUT AND WORK YOUR WAY DOWN
hey good for you thats an eazy one .pull the washer out abit and then tip so the top resting on wall behind.be careful dose not slip out from under but ihave done it a hundred times as a repairman.before replacing the belt inspect the motor pulley, its plastic and they do melt.also inspect the pump pulley making sure it turns freely and the spot welds are not broken joinning the pulley to the pump shaft...........other wise just spin the old belt off and spin the new belt on.the belt goes on a total of three pulleys .thats it if you need any other help you can email . God bless ,tom
Typically the plastic pulley is worn down at the bottom of the machine if the motor runs and the unit does not spin. There is a pulley kit to replace it. Sort of hard to do; may want the reapir man. Please contact me if you need further help or leave feedback if appropriate as that is how I get paid. Thanks for letting me help you!
Whatever the pulley is attached to has seized. Either the water pump or tub drive, or something else has stopped spinning. The belt continued to run because the motor kept pulling it, and the friction from the belt melted the plastic pulley. Hopefully its the water pump, as its the most inexpensive. You should change the belt along with this fix, it has also got hot and probable will not last as long as it should.
I have a model sav2655aww maytag washer. And it needs a new belt but I dont know how to replace it! Can the pump be removed with out removeing the motor ? Also the tub keeps going off center whats with that ?
