Do you have more info? Sound card type? Operating System? Is this a newly acquired problem, or have you always had it?

No sound on my HP Pavillion dv9000 w/ TinyXP (drivers installed)

Some drivers differ by specific model, but the entire dv9000 series probably uses the same sound system. You need to install the second driver (UAA bus) first, then the Conexant driver:

If that driver doesn't work, go to the page for the specific model of your laptop. This page shows you how to find the model number:

I have lost the drivers for my sound in computer Where can I find them? I have Logitech Z5500 5.1 and the card is called a revolutionv They are not on their website

u need to go to your sound card manufacturer`s website and then enter the model no and click on download drivers. u can find manufacturers name and model no.on the hardware itself(see the
Printed Circuit Board very carefully) or on the carrying box. without knowing this information we cannot do anything.another option is test this card with a windows 7 installed computer because it can automatically find drivers for your card....

Lost my laptop sound & display

Try this:-

How to update your Sound Driver

Try the following:-

First Make sure your PC has access to the internet

Click "Start" --> "Control Panel"
Double click on "System" --> "Hardware" --> "Device Manager"
Search for your "Sound Card" under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers"
If there is a problem you will see an exclamation mark over the top of the symbol
Right Click and Select "Update Driver"
If you have the correct sound driver disk or driver disk that came with the pc
insert this now and select "no not this time"
then "install driver automatically"
Alternatively
Select "Yes this time only" to allow windows to search the internet
If the driver is found windows will install it and may ask for a restart

If the updated driver is not found, follow the above instructions but do not select "Update Driver" select "Properties"
and under the "General" tab your sound device and manufacturer is displayed

Search the internet for the required drivers
