Question about JVC Cameras

2 Answers

I have a JVC GR-DX25EK digital video camera which I have had for several years and never had any problems with. I used it yesterday to video my daughters wedding but when the tape ran out I couldn't remove it from the camera as it won't eject it. This has never happened before and I don't want to damage the tape. Please can someone advise me how to get the tape out of the camera? Michelle Gillingham 19.7.08

The error is coming up as E03 and the manual advises me to eject the tape but when I open the camera the tape doesn't eject.

I tried both of your solutions and they didn't work. My son-in-law has managed to get the tape out by prising the holder open and removing the tape. The camera is now broken as the eject mechanism isn't working and when the battery is on the camera the power is on all the time even in the off setting.

I have given up and bought a new camera with a memory stick and no internal working parts.

When you get errors do a complete rewind or fast forward to the end of the tape in order to pull out tape slack. Then remove battery and tape for a while. If still screwed, then yes, sharply tap (not hard!) on the closed tape door. That may reposition the tiny switches .....

The tape must be broken or rolled inside the camera, try to see if you can open the camera door a bit and force tape out. You will probably lose the tape.

E03 is battery error I think, remove the battery, eventually charge it and put it back in place.

Try also connecting the camera to power adapter and ejecting tape.

JVC GR-HDKR1 digital camera compatibility issue with MAC

Just output via the AV jacks, and use a TV/Video input card or USB dongle. You can then Play the DVR, and Record on the PC, With Video Recording Software, through the Video Input. On your chosen device. You can get Component, or Composite Video IN. Audio is in Stereo. Then you will be able to be able to use your camera again... ?

We need jvc gr-d50as driver

Check if your GR-D50AS really is that model by plugging it into a Linux2.gif pc (eg. Ubuntu) and doing lsusb at the commandline. This should tell you the actual modeltype that the cam identifies itself as.

The GR-D50AS I have is actually a GR-DX25EK, and those drivers are more readily available (driverguide.com, JVC main site etc).

JVC GR-DX25EK camcorder

JVC has issued a notice on many models that bring up a "lens cap" error. However, the GR-DX25EK is not included. The model you have posted on its page(GR-DX95) is though. This problem is still very common with models that aren't on the said list, given that and the fact that your model is from the same series, you might get some consideration from JVC. No harm in trying. The listed models get a free repair. Heres a link to the notice from JVC: http://www.jvc.com/support/notification/index.jsp?pageID=2 Good luck
