Question about HP LaserJet 2500L Printer

1 Answer

Severe banding I have a problem with severe colour banding. The black prints large blocks of solid toner - perfectly, but the colour has a deep line of colour about a drum rotation apart which appears as banding. I have fitted a new sealed HP drum unit and the problem is still there. I fitted a new Cyan which was starting to fade and the problem was very severe - dark Cyan areas with a really deep Cyan line a drum rotation apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vertical lines

Lines in prints with this machine would suggest a fault with a drum unit. As each toner cartridge contains its own drum unit it is likely to be a particular colour at fault. If the colour is not immediately obvious, I would recommend printing off a test page like the one here:

Not print black colour

You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the printthen a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase anew printer.

Not printin g all the time & all blue

Without knowing the Model of Printer and any specifics I will try to cover all the bases I can.

If your printer uses a Tri-Colour cartridge and Black Cartridge then it is most likely that either the Magenta in the Tri-Colour cartridge is either Empty or Blocked or the Black cartridge is Empty.

To test this you can take the Tri-Colour and Black Cartridge out of the printer and press the Printhead against a tissue. The Black should be a solid black line approximately a centimeter long by 3 Millimeters wide. The Colour should have three solid lines, one of each colour Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. If either of these is not clear then the cartridge that does not leave clear footprints will either be empty or blocked.

If your HP printer uses seperate ink tanks for each colour then the Printhead may be blocked or the Ink Tanks are empty.

If it is a Laser Printer then there are several possibilities open. The Toner Cartridges are Empty or the Toner Seals have not been removed. If they are still full and the seals are removed then the Imaging Mirrors may be damaged or the Imaging Drum(s) may be damaged.

I hope that helps.

Canon PIXMA iP3000. I have completed a nozzle check, but have odd results... BLACK-Perfect CYAN-4 EQUALLY SPACED WHITE LINES...NO DROP OUTS PALE CYAN-PERFECT MAGENTA- 4 EQUALLY SPACED WHITE LINES...NO DROP...

Inkjet printers do not like being left unused for long periods.
Some of the color print head may be blocked. Try several deep cleaning of the print head to see if it can clear the blocked print nozzles.
If none of this works then the print head needs to be replaced.
A new cartridge will not solve this problem.
NOTE the print head is not a cheap item, you may consider putting the money towards a new and better printer.

There are large black bands on all my pages when

This is generally an issue with the drum rather thatn the toner cartridge. To fix such an issue, generally one must pull out the toner and the drum, then clean the toner powder from both the drum and the inside of the printer. The lines are usually caused by a buildup of excess toner powder caught within the machine.

L7680 has been printing perfectly - printed

Yes, you can pop the cover on the right over where the printhead parks, and remove the black/yellow printhead and soak it in about a 1/4 inch deep water for 30 mins or so, you only want the nozzle area on the bottom in the water. However if you are using generic inks it may report a printhead failure soon. After soaking you dab the bottom on a paper towel and look for a solid black line on the towel.

Wrong colour

This could one of a few fairly major problems. The easiest way to track down the fault is start by replacing the consumables - make sure you install them in the correct positions - it is possible on the C1100 to put them in the wrong places!! Change the toners first. Most importantly the magenta and yellow. Print several pages. Use MS Paint or similar to create a page with all four component colours on (cyan, magenta, yellow and black)in large blocks (see image below) and print them full page. Now look at the print and see if any one colour is missing or has reduced density. If you have a spare PCU you should but that in next. Let me know what the print outs look like and we will progress to the next step.
