SOURCE: LYRA X3030 FIRMWARE UPGRADE RENDERED UNIT USELESS

I had a problem getting mine to boot but got it working by removing battery and removing AC, then pressing power button. Then plugged in AC and pressed power again. It boots. Then replace battery and cover.

As far as manuals, the official site is below. I'd download a new firmware upgrade and install is from another computer. Sometimes the computer downloading and running an install is
compromised and the virus scanner is not aware downloads are getting damaged upon arrival to your local hard drive.

SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi Firmaware Update Complete, Unable to catch satellite signal

So what happens when you connect it to the PC?
Make sure no sd cards are installed while you do this.
download and install web updater, run it it gets to a screen where it looks for the gps, plug the usb cable into the GPS (no USB hubs please!!!) Make sure it detects the GPS before you continue. Select the updates you need (don't install all the languages !!) after this is done the program will report the downloads are on the garmin, unplug the unit and it will reboot and whilst rebooting it will install the updates....so don't touch it until it reboots again and displays the regular screen....and make sure the batery is fully charged before you do this...!

Map freezes during drive

Hi David,

Gather your GPS and the USB cable that fits it. Try performing a "master reset"as described on Garmin page. Make sure you back up any info you need, first. Next, go to Garmin's Web Updater page. Download and install any updates as per instructions on the page.

If, the version of the firmware is already up to date, you may consider "rolling back" the firmware to a previous version. It is possible that the new firmware is the cause of the problem - it has happened to others including me on my 760. You can not obtain the older firmware from Garmin - but you can get them here - free of charge. Make SURE you get firmware for the nuvi 750 (if that is indeed your model)! Attempting to install another model firmware could render the unit unusable. Start with the version number immediately prior to the installed version number and see if the freeze ups stop. Go back as far as you want - but realize some functionality of the unit may go away, or a different issue may be introduced.

If all else fails, you can arrange for "repair" with Garmin Tech Support. They simply send you a refurbished unit with the latest maps and a 90 day warranty. You do NOT get your unit back - so back up and remove any personal info before sending it out.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Wer can i find garmin nuvi voice downloads for free

Sincerely, you will not be able to get a free voice download for your garmin nuvi, except if you have some other voices on the latest updates and downloads. Reason being that, garmin nuvi tries ti make profit after creating the device that works for your navigation. So I will advice you buy one, from garmin nuvi website as it is available there.

Hope this helped you

Garmin 1300 locked up and computer and 1300 will not recognize each other. I first download the latest updates and now the 1300 will not recognize the computer and there is not icon showing the 1300 and...

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, freezes on 'loading maps,' or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

I have a Nuvi 770. The map update notice comes up after power up and the OK button shows but is not active. Cannot get by the screen.

I would try to fix it by doing a reset. Hold the off switch for over 8 secs. and see if it helps. Connect to your computer and download the latest software and maps.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 770 that won't "speak" when navigating

Frequently (about 20% of the time) when I have my Nuvi 770 plugged in, in the car and I turn it on, it gets stuck at the start up screen where it says, “Loading maps” I wait several minutes and it never completes. Then I turn it off and turn it back on and it comes right up, but with no voice. When I go to Tools > Setup > Language it shows no language and I cannot select one. I have to plug my Nuvi 770 into the computer, run web updater, it detects that I already have the software loaded and I select the option to download it again. When it has completed, I unplug the Nuvi and then go to Tools > Setup > Language and select American English.

Garmani nuvi 780 freezes on "updating bluetooth firmware 0%" when turned on

Worked for me but not sure why, I had the same problem of freezing when updating Bluetooth firmware on a Nuvi 770. I chose to reset all user data (press lower tight hand of touch screen while powering on) and next reboot it updated firmware sucesfully. No idea why this worked.

Nuvi 660 + omnia

Hi, version 3.1 is supposed to help with disconnects. Please see this link:

http://www.gpspassion.com/FORUMSEN/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=109459

However, Garmin released 3.4 which will include the changes in 3.1 and also makes the bluetooth compatible with more phones.

You need to go to www.garmin.com and download their webupdater and run it with your Nuvi connected to the PC with a USB cable. It will check (via the Internet) if you need a firmware upgrade. The latest firmware version for a Nuvi 660 is v4.7. There is a second menu after the main firmware option that allows you to select additional software. Select yes and check the bluetooth 3.4 box and the Chipset "G" box if it's shown.. The Chipset "G" is the upgrade for the receiver in the flip-up antenna. Let it download. When finished, select to safely remove the Nuvi. You can now unplug the USB cable. Your Nuvi will reboot and load in the new changes. Whatever you do, don't turn your nuvi off! Let it go and update. You will see it say "Loader", then "Loading Software" and you'll see a task bar that says "Updating Bluetooth Software" and "Updating GPS Software" (if required). Once you get to the main menu and there are no more texts coming up on the screen. Press the power button and turn your unit off and then back on again. Check the GPS and Bluetooth firmware versions in your Nuvi. It should be 3.0 for the GPS and 3.4 for the Bluetooth. Check the firmware version if you selected v4.7. You will have to re-pair your phone with your Nuvi as the update erases any previous set-up. Let me know how it went for you. If you have trouble with this, let me know. I can do it for you. I have done it many times. Please rate my solution if you found it helpful.

Bluetooth enable

The complete solution - user reset is NOT necessary:

Whenever I purchase a new electronic device, the first thing I do is update the firmware. This has me in a bind in this case.

I updated my Nuvi firmware, then my BT firmware.

A few days later, I got the "Enabling Bluetooth" hang. I followed the advice on this page, but "Bluetooth Firmware Update" would not appear in the webupdate list.

1. Browse here and install the latest version of WebUpdater:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27

2. Turn on your Nuvi, press view map, press speed, press and hold the middle of the speedometer (the circle that says 0.0mph in it). After five seconds (maybe a bit longer), the engineering menu will appear.

3. Press "Next" five times (once for each page). You will arrive at the "Bluetooth Status" page.

4. Press "Clear". Confirm by pressing "yes".

5. Press "Updt PR". Confirm by pressing "yes".

6. This probably did _nothing_ for you, but to be thorough, I've included the steps.

7. Connect the Nuvi to your computer. Run the webupdater and if the latest version is already detected on your Nuvi, simply proceed and browse the list of further updates.

8. If "Bluetooth Firmware Update..." (or similar text) DOES NOT APPEAR skip to step 10 below, otherwise complete your fix with the next step, step 9.

9. If the "Bluetooth Firmware Update..." (or similar text) appears in your list, select this update and agree to term of service, and have the updater load the firmware onto your device. Unplug your device. It should powerup automatically. Power off. Power back on. Your BT should be back in business. Do NOT continue with the next steps. You are done.

10. If "Bluetooth Firmware Update..." (or similar text) DOES NOT APPEAR in the list, then you need to remove the offending update that is making WebUpdater believe that your Nuvi is up-to-date.

11. You can access the Nuvi by clicking on "My Computer" and double clicking the Nuvi link.

12. Click the "Garmin" folder.

13. Click the "RemoteSW" folder.

14. DELETE "006B055301.GCD". This file will be one of two GCD files in the directory: <DRIVE>:\Garmin\RemoteSW. The file without the "Date Modified" is the original firmware. The other file is the new firmware that the Nuvi believes is installed. By deleting the newer of the two files, WebUpdater will see that your Nuvi is out-of-date. Return to step 8 to continue your fix.

This should resolve all permutations of this nasty bug.
