Planar Plasma TV Set Problem - Picture is Messed Up

It's a 42"plasma unit that's a bit more than 2 years old. It's no longer underwarranty. The colors are off. The picture almost looks either like a somewhat fuzzyAndy Warhol painting or a picture that has had a polarization effect applied to it. On multiple occasions I've tried adjusting the unit by doing a reset from thescreen menu but nothing changes. I brought it to a shop authorized to repair all majorbrands. The technician did some diagnostic tests and told me the problemis with the X-Main Circuit board. He says that it controls the X vertex andthat it needs to be changed. He said that he can't get the part from Planar because they no longer sells parts for this unit. This is because the manufacturer/supplier for that TV set is no longer in business. Thepart number is 50503911006. As he dosen't know of a parts cross-reference list for Planar parts to other manufacturers, he's unable to do anything for me.

I want to know how I can get this TV set workingproperly either by fixing the existing board, finding a place that can provideme with a Planar replacement board, getting a compatible part from anothermanufacturer, or any other reasonable solution. If you go Online andsearch for PD42ED, it seems to be available from HP Small Business but I neverseem to be able to get anywhere when I try to call them. Suggestions?

such the unit does not work. If you find someone who sells these parts,
    please let me know.

please let me know the model of TV you have, the part number you're looking for, and your e-mail ID. If and when I get some information, I'll contact you.

    Thank you.

My ten year old sony plasma tv has vertical herring bone lines no picture just color lines. Is my picture tube gone.

If its 10 years old boards and or parts will likely not be available--average life on Plasma and LCD sets is 3-5 years.

I would retire it--recycle it and buy a new set.

5 year old plasma that looses half the picture

Hello. I recommend that you forget the repair for two reasons. 1. Pricey. 2. You still have a 5 year old set with no warranty. In the last five years, the tv technology has come so far. The HD is fabulous. The new sets cost less to operate and they are so much better than they were five years ago. Joe
