Microsoft LifeCam HD5000 Webcam Logo

After having successfully installed, and used my Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000, Google Video Chat experienced some sort of error, and as a result my webcam is no longer recognized by my computer (so says the LifeCam software). However, after uninstalling the software, the webcam works perfectly fine. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but I do enjoy the features provided with the software. Reinstalling the software after uninstalling it didn't fix the problem, and neither did restarting my computer. I would greatly appreciate some help with this.

Hi. I have a Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 laptop. I just bought a Microsoft Lifecam HD-6000. However, when the Microsoft Lifecam application launches I get an error message -> lifecam.exe has...

The first thing to try would be to right-click on lifecam.exe and run it as administrator. If that does not resolve the problem. Then open Device manager. Start->Run-> In the run box type in devmgmt.msc and hit enter. See if the camera has been detected under imaging devices and let me know

Installation problem with microsoft lifecam 2.04

Try disconnecting the camera from the USB port and reinstall the software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera, then do so and not before. After the program finishes it should properly. Don't forget that you will then have to have a messenger or Skype to communicate with family and friends. Here is how to set thst up:
Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Microsoft live webcam shows error msg

I have a Work-A-Round so that the end result will provide both sound and
Video using the LifeCam NX-6000 with Windows Live on a
Windows Vista ULtimate 64 bit system, please post your system if
this solution works for you.

I guessed that the error messages, the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, and
a long list of conflicts that I discovered with this camera shown that
the sound was conflicting with the video.

Overview
I used manycam for the video and I configured Windows Live to handle sound.
I assume that you can get it to work as long as you split the video and sound
on two different programs.

What I did
I installed the vista driver
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/DownloadResult.aspx?category=ICE&type=Webcams&name=NX6000&os=WVista_32&lang=en
I installed windows live 8.1 (I did configure until after ManyCams)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d78f2ff1-79ea-4066-8ba0-ddbed94864fc&displaylang=en
I installed ManyCams
ManyCam Virtual Webcam 2.3.21
http://www.download.com/ManyCam-Virtual-Webcam/3000-2348_4-10593500.html

Configuration
I started ManyCams and configured it to (optionally start on boot) and to
USE LIFECAM NX-6000 as the source.
I then started Windows 8.1 Start > Tools > Audio and Video setup
and configured it to use my
(1) speakers for output sound (Realtek HD Audio) [next]
(2) Microphone Microsoft Lifecam NX-6000 [next]
(3) ManyCam Virtual Webcam [finish]

Reboot, start ManyCam and then start Windows live.

If your still having issues, you may try to disable this service and try again
using the following instructions.
start -> run -> services.msc
then go to Messenger Sharing Folders USN Journal Reader service
click on proprieties and disable it

Ok, thats is what I did and I truly hope that it helps you.
