Take the memory card out of the camera and try to read it on your computer. You will need a card reader if your pc does not have an SD card slot It sounds like the memory card may be corrupted in which case there are a number of programs that MAY be able to retrieve the photos from the card. This way, your computer would have all the necessary display properties to show you the picture.
This is mostly caused when you take a picture with a camera other than the one you are trying to view the picture on. It is as a result of the camera which took the picture having advanced display properties than the one you are trying to use.
