When I view my pictures on the camera some of them come up with the message "THIS PICTURE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED". Is there any way that I can get to see these pictures?

Take the memory card out of the camera and try to read it on your computer. You will need a card reader if your pc does not have an SD card slot It sounds like the memory card may be corrupted in which case there are a number of programs that MAY be able to retrieve the photos from the card. Do not shoot any more photos to the card until you have tried to retrieve what is on the card and formatted and checked the card afterwards. http://www.pcinspector.de/Default.htm?language=1 for recovery software You need to find out what is on the card and why it can't be recognised in order to proceed

The best and only advisable way you can see thispicture is by connecting your camera to a computer and copying it out or viewing it on your computer.
This way, your computer would have all the necessary display properties to show you the picture.
This is mostly caused when you take a picture with a camera other than the one you are trying to view the picture on. It is as a result of the camera which took the picture having advanced display properties than the one you are trying to use.
This makes it unable to open the picture.
Hope this was helpful?

Intermittent blanking on pictures displayed

There's nothing wrong. The blinking areas are blown-out highlights. These are the portions of your picture that the camera thinks are overexposed.
While viewing the picture, press cursor-up/down to cycle through the different views of your picture.

It's likely something wrong with your camera.
You may do the following test:
Try to format your card (warning: everything will be wiped) and then take some more pictures.
If the problem persists, then you probably need to take it to a service center.

Picture screen

You can choose whether or not to display the picture you have just taken on
the monitor.
ON : The picture being recorded to the card is displayed. This is useful for
making a brief check of the picture you have just taken. You can
resume shooting anytime during REC VIEW.
OFF : The picture being recorded to the card is not displayed. This is
useful when you want to prepare for your next shot while the
previous picture is being recorded.

select MODE MENU

Pictures cannot be download

When you try to transfer a large number of files (or a single large file) from a PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) device, such as a Sony Memory Stick, you may receive an error message saying that your computer cannot detect your camera or that, although it has detected the camera, the current picture cannot be copied. This happens because in older versions of WinXP the PTP driver limits file transfer to 2,048 files at one time and those files must be less than 210MB. If you update WinXP with Microsoft's latest service pack you should eliminate the problem.
