How do i reset the hard drive to its factory default state

If things really go south on your FireTV then you need to perform a hard reset, returning it into factory default mode. This will leave your FireTV just as if you bought it.All personal configuration, installed apps, games, passwords, etc. gone! but then, a hard reset will almost guarantee to recover into life your fireTV from non-working state.
You need to press RIGHT and BACK buttons for 10 seconds to initiate the Factory default reset.
Then you will have the original default username and password, which shold get you in to set it back up.

You can do it manually. Or you can do it with a 3rd party software. Have done it many times with third party software. Never manually.

Depending on Make and Model if you remove the Battery from the motherboard for 20-30 seconds to be safe, it will reset the board and release any BIOS password and restore it to factory default. This doesn't always work especially on Lenovo laptops you would have to contact IBM/Lenovo

Wait for the computer to finish the restore process and reboot.

If your model Toshiba laptop has a Restore partition on the hard drive then follow these steps to restore your Toshiba to the Out of the Box condition.
1. Press and hold the 0 (zero) key and at the same time, tap the power button once to switch on
your notebook.
2. When the machine Starts beeping; release the 0 key.
3. When prompted by the warning screen; select Yes to continue with the system recovery.
4. Select Recovery of Factory Default Software; click Next.
5. Select Recover to out-of-box state.
6. Click Next again.
7. Click Next to Start recovery.
8. Restart the Toshiba laptop when there restoration process finishes running. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to set up the laptop's date, time and language settings.

Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop. Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer. Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop. Press "Alt-F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot-up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files. As soon as you press the power button on your notebook, Keep tapping F8 repeatedly. Another screen should pop up with a list of commands (safe mode / start up repair etc) Near the bottom of the list you should see an option to ReInstall windows / Reset to factory Default. Select which one you prefer and follow the simple instructions.

1. For Error 320 or 330 , if possible, run the RAM hardware diagnostics to determine if the RAM has failed.
2. Disconnect all external hardware that is attached to the computer.
3. Reset the BIOS to the factory defaults.
4. If the RAM passes the test, only the HDD requires service.
This error also may occur if you are performing a system recovery on a new unformatted hard drive or if sector 0 of the hard drive was cleaned.
Select the "Restore Complete System" option from teh recovery discs and during the installation wizard choose YES for the option "Do you want to keep the factory default hard drive size?".

Turn off the NAS.
Press AND HOLD power button for about 30 secs.
That will force a hard reset and reset the unit to factory defaults. You will lose all data on drives that are plugged in at the moment. If they are in an ejected state, it may save your data, but I have not tried that.
