Kenmore compact refridgerator is freezing vegetables in the bottom - in the vegetable trays. Technician says that it is because compressor is in the bottom of the fridge and that vegetables should be stored near the top. Then why did they put the vegetable trays in the bottom of the fridge. Previously I was told that it needed a new gasket - what is the true answer to this situation..

SOURCE: refrigerator has water underneath vegetable

We found that the drainage for the defrosting was plugged. The water from the freezer drains from a hole that's on the top of the fresh food unit. There's a gutter that shunts the water to a tube that runs to a tray underneath the refrigerator. The tray was bone dry. So we unscrewed the gutter from the top of the fridge, and yes, it was plugged. Some Scrubby bubbles later, the plug was done. We reinstalled it, and now we don't have water underneath the vegetable/fruit bins.

This is for the GE TBF15DC For other models, your mileage may vary.

SOURCE: vegetables are freezing inside vegetable bin

Most likely your refrigerator is set at too cold a setting. Just turn the temperature adjustment to a warmer setting.

SOURCE: 21' bottom freezer kenmore refrigerator-no ice

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Water leaking inside my vegetable drawer

Just above the drawers is a drain hole on the back wall. Push a drinking straw or very thin brush down to unblock the drainhole and the water will drain away outside the rear into a pan on top of the compressor

Vegetable compart freezes the vegetables

You probably have your compartment set to meat and not produce. Adjust the setting on the tray, or get the food further away from the air return ducts.

Vegetables keep freezing in the fridge crispers

You have to heat the coil in the back of the fridge. Take everything out and open up the back, then take a hair dryer and heat the coil. After doing this, adjust the heat settings on the freezer.

My Kenmore Elite freezes vegetables in the vegetable bin on one side. The interior temperature is set at 46. How can I keep food from freezing? The vents are kept open as well.....any suggestions?

Hi, this problem is going to be with the running thermostat (cold Control). It has gone bad and stays open which in turn will keep the compressor running continually and will cause the fridge to get colder and freeze food. It can normally be located in the control panel inside the fridge (it is the control that has wires, the other is the damper). Locate the thermostat and replace it. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! Mike

Vegetable draw is freezing the vegetables

if you pull out the vegetable drawer, you will notice a vent on the left side in the back. get some tape ( I use aluminum tape ) and cover the bottom half of the vent, that will help keep your vegetables from freezing. that should solve your problem. Joe
