Disconnect the power to the modem, then shut down the PC, then power up the modem and wait a minute, then power up the PC, then look for the wireless icon in your systray (to the left of your clock), right click on the icon with three curved lines and select "View wireless networks" and select yours and at the bottom right corner click "Connect" and it should start connecting. If you have Wep or Wap encryption you will have to enter the pass code once for each wireless device you want to gain access that you want to connect.

I hope this helps and pleas let us know your outcome so we can suggest other solutionsl

Good luck!

There may be a set up wizard disk with the router so you can put in your broadband account details etc to get you running.

The wireless side of things will almost certainly require you to use a cable to connect you PC to the router and log in using internet explorer

Post the model number of the router so I can assist you in more detail

no, but you need to configure the router to connect to the internet, you should have a "quick start guide" that will help you connect to your router and set your ADSL dial settings (as it needs this to connect you to your internet service)

once these connection settings are set you should be able to connect to the internet

you can then explore the other settings including the wireless configuration of your router

I cannot connect to the internet with my belkin wireless adapater and i don't know why, please help.

you need more than a wireless adapter to connect to the internet......
you need a wireless network to connect to. in cafe's and pubs the owner sometimes sets up a WiFi network that their patrons can connect to, however most people have to provide their own.

to get to the internet , you will need.

A broadband connection (ADSL / Cable) this normally comes with a standard NON wifi modem
A WiFi Router (including ADSL / Cable Modem) depending on what you have already.

then to link a remote PC / Laptop to this network, A suitable wireless adapter ( like your belkin adapter)

it is a common misconception that a wireless adapter is all you need (advertising is vague)

(The router should work with any broadband modem.)

you can connect the Belkin ADSL modem/router to your PC via ethernet (network cable) or USB. If using USB you neet to load appropriate software.

Once done you need to set up the modem according to your ADSL providers requirements to connect to their service

Have you accessed and setup your wireless part of the modem?

To access the router settings menu, you will first need to log into the Wireless router following the steps below:
Open Internet Explorer
In the address bar type the following address:
192.168.0.1

You will be prompted to enter a Username and Password to access the interface, please use the following default details:
Username: This can be found on the bottom of the router
Password: This can be found on the bottom of the router

From the list on the left hand side, click on ‘Router Status’.
Within the Router Status section there are two areas you will be able to access:

Show Statistics
Connection Status

The Router Status page gives you a detailed status overview of the connection configured on the Wireless router.
Click ‘Connection Status’ to see more information on the broadband connection.
If you have already configured your broadband, you are able to establish/terminate the connection by clicking Connect/Disconnect.
You can also click ‘Show Statistics’ to show you current connection speed and more information on your Broadband connection.
Clicking on Basic Settings enables you to check all the Internet settings of your Broadband connection. Including the Login name (username) and password, IP address and type of connection.
Clicking on ‘Test’ will perform a standard check of your Internet connection and settings.
ADSL SETTINGS
The ‘ADSL Settings’ section provides you with some more information about your Internet connection. These are:
Multiplexing Method
VPI
VCI
WIRELESS SETTINGS
This section gives you full information regarding the Wireless connection. From here, you can change security settings, the SSID (Name) of the router and the access control list. Options list from:
Name(SSID) virgin broadband (default)
Region Europe(default)
Channel 11(default)
Mode g&b(default)
Enable Wireless Access point
Allow broadcast name
Security options (None, WEP and WPA)
- hope this helps

Hi, i have a belkin adsl2 modem with wireless- g router model f5d7632-4 and it was working fine but now i am getting no connection at all (no adsl light) checked all my wires/filters am stuck! i am on...

Check with your Network provider, and ask them if they can run a line check. No adsl can be problem with either the line or hardware.

But before that do check with your modem as well.

D-link di-524up configuring router with bigpond

Hello cook_ka

You can find information about and downloads for your "DI-524UP 54 Mbps Wireless Broadband Router Plus Print Server" HERE on D-Link's Australia & New Zealand regional web site.

You can find its product manual HERE. Please, download this manual. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF file reader in order to open the file.)

In order to access the router and get it configured initially, connect a computer to any one of the router LAN ports (NOT the WAN port) using an Ethernet patch cable.

The instructions for configuring your router begin on page 8 of the product manual.

This router has a configuration wizard as well. Instructions for using the configuration wizard begin on page 10 of the manual.

NOTE-1: The default IP address of your router is 192.168.0.1

NOTE-2: Don't try to access the router wirelessly until you have the router configured and your connection to the Internet working (using a "wired" connection from your computer to the router).

NOTE-3: I assume that, since your ISP is BigPond, that your Internet access connection is ADSL. In that case, you are going to need your ADSL login credentials (primary account user name and password) in order to configure the WAN side of your router settings.

Please, let us know if this information was helpful to you or, of course, if you have any further questions.
