- Is your system playing in spite of this error?
Assuming that this is the model complete with "receiver" and speakers+sub and you use these and the original connections. You could try and measure your ohm level on each speaker to control if there is a bad/blown speaker. The Ohm level should be the same on each speaker - roughly.
- Hope this will get you somewhere!
Testimonial: "Great feedback, very useful indeed."
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunatly the system doesn't work at all, so I am unable to check the Ohm on the speakers. The F61 fault displays briefly when you turn on the system and there isn't anything that will make the system turn on properly.
The Ohm on the speakers is easy test with a meter, disconnect the speaker wires and measure on the two ends with a meter. most meters have an ohm meter built in!
Checked the ohm on the wires and it seems as if the centre speaker has half the amount of ohm than the other speakers. It seems as if it's the port on the back of the dvd player that is giving the weaker signal as it doesn't matter which wire I put in the centre port it still gives the same reading. What a bummer looks like there is a fault within the unit.
This is where my expertice runs out. Sounds like a new unit or system.
you have my sympathies.
Hi Martyn. Have you tried turning the system on without connecting any speakers? If error message disappears, connect each speaker in-turn until error returns. This should uncover the 'suspect' speaker. Hope this is of some use.
Just to let you know, I sent the dvd player for repair at a local small shop. £15 and 2 weeks later he couldn't fix due to him not being able to get a service manual. He did although manage to fix me up with a load of scratches on it, definatly not going back there again!! Thanks for your time anyhow.

The F61 problem with the SA-PT860 does not appear to be related to the speaker connections. I've removed all speakers and other output/inputs and the F61 message still appears and turns the unit off, so it's a bit of a puzzle.
