Good day, dkimberly428;
Sorry you are having a problem with your SNG TV.
Let me ask you why did you replace the color wheel? Was it making noise, but had pic prior to changing it?
Okay, if that was it, try this: the color wheel ***'y has one cable and "ribbon type" cable, correct? Okay, make sure both cables are secured. Secondly, the "ribbon type cable" was more then likely put in backwards. If I remember correctly the shiny side (end) of ribbon cable should be facing the rear of TV.
Good Luck, big IRISH. PS always double check ALL cables in TV to make sure they are properly seated.

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

TV made a big popping sound, and then a crackling

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast.Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php That crackling sound could be of the color wheel:The color wheel is a rotating disc that has a gamma of colors it spins at high rpms.The light of the lamp goes through it to create the colors on your tv.When it starts to go bad you will get color distortion ,black and white picture and sometimes you will hear humming noises. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp.The lamp you need is BP9601073A you can find original here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/Samsung-BP96-01073A-lamp-p/samsung-bp96-01073a-lamp-oem.htm?Click=48173 .Have a blessed one!

Ballast Lamp provide back light in DLP TV and if its bad / broken TV wont power up. If lamp is weak, dark or less bright picture will come in screen. Color wheel is responsible for colors in picture and if its broke, TV wont power up and common problem with color wheel is high pitch noise while it spins.

Samsung hln617w non power up

Most of the time when these sets won't turn off it's caused by the DMD but check the color wheel connectors first, especially the flat ribbon cable. Make sure it's in the connector in the correct direction, only has contacts on one side and make sure the ribbon is not torn.

T.v. will not turn on. flahes "lamp" then no picture!

This will have to be narrowed down to a specific problem. I would try the easiest things first. First check the lamp. Is it bad or just starting to go bad or does it just need to be reseated with the ballast? If the ballast flickers when turning on your TV, then you will know it is the lamp that is not working or the ballast may need to be replaced. If that is not the problem next check to see if the color wheel is spinning or broken. If broken, it will need to be replaced. If not spinning it is the DMD board that is bad. The color wheel is plugged into the DMD board. If the DMD board is good it will spin the color wheel, that is what will start your lamp. When you lamp starts, you have your picture.
