There are controls that turn off the monitor, both in Windows control panel and the monitor itself. The system should know if activity is happening, and should not blank if active.
Look at screen savers, too.

The dialog box you are seeing means that the monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer.

check your cable going from the monitor to the computer. if the cable seems ok, hold the power button on your towerr until it turns off, then wait 5 seconds and push the computer power button again.

My monitor will randomly turn on or off...

Hello there:
what you will need to do is boot the machine into bios setup screen and look under the section where you see the video graphics section and click on it now look to see if it says agp or pci it should be set to your type of a video card either pci or agp if it is set to pci and you have a agp type card than switch it to agp or you can do vice versa and see which one works the best for your system ok?
Tthan simply save settings and reboot.
this should take care of the problem.

I am not 100% sure but I guess that the system board on the monitor has been overheated and therefore will require replacing.

You can get it tested but certified engineer local to you.

Please let me know how you get on. In the mean while I'll do a bit more research into this on your behalf.

Best of luck
