You must not be referencing the second table properly, the reason your first one works is because it is automatically referenced, what I mean is that Me.dataTable and dataTable will both work in the same scope.

Visual basic program for binary search technique

This sounds like "homework".

A binary-search requires an "ordered" table of values.
Sort your values into the proper order.

LET TOP=1; * Point to first element in the table.
LET BOT=1000; * Point to the *LAST* item in the table.

LOOPHERE:

LET BINARY = 2;

LET MIDDLE=FLOOR((TOP+BOT)/BINARY);

IF VALUE(MIDDLE) = KEY THEN STOP;

IF KEY < VALUE(MIDDLE)
THEN TOP = MIDDLE;
ELSE BOTTOM = MIDDLE;

IF TOP = BOTTOM THEN STOP;

GOTO LOOPHERE;

END;

Proper syntax is:
With rstTemp
.AddNew
!FirstName = strFirst
!LastName = strLast
.Update
End With

Do you have the ADODB library loaded?

While in "Code" view...menu/tools/references ... look for a check by "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects x.xx..."

If you don't have ADO reference library then setting ADODB recordset won't work no matter what syntax you use.

Hint: try using Ctrl+J while you code. The library will show you available syntax as you type.

Java

If you don't already know how to program then i wouldn't start with Java but maybe with Visual Basic. Once you have a good grasp of Basic then you can move onto Java.

If you already know how to program in another language, especially C++ then you will find java to be quite familiar.

In any case your first step would be to go to yoru local book store and buy a book or two. Read through the book while at your computer and try all the examples.

For Visual Basic there are books like this: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Visual-Basic-2008-Step/dp/0735625379/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519837&sr=8-1 or http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Microsoft-Visual-Basic-Guides/dp/0470191341/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519932&sr=8-6 or http://www.amazon.com/Teach-Yourself-Visual-Basic-Hours/dp/0672329840/ref=pd_bbs_sr_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519932&sr=8-9

For Java you may want to check out: http://www.amazon.com/Head-First-Java-Kathy-Sierra/dp/0596009208/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519994&sr=8-1 or http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Programming-Java-Dummies-Computer/dp/0764588745/ref=pd_bbs_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519994&sr=8-7 or http://www.amazon.com/Sams-Teach-Yourself-Java-Days/dp/0672329433/ref=pd_bbs_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215519994&sr=8-9

Howto load data to datagrid using visual basic 2005 and sql 200

May I suggest providing us with the programming language enviroment, which you're using, as in, Visual Basic or something, that way, I think it would be easier for the experts to give you an answer.

Here is a helpful link about Databases, but it's for Visual Basic Express Edition 2008
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/express/aa718391.aspx

The best of luck with your project.
