Thinkpad 380Z need to reset the bootup sequence

When I press the F1 key during startup I get the EASY SETUP screen. Opening the CONFIG window I need to set the options in NETWORK and QUICK BOOT so that the computer looks first to the floppy and then to the harddrive to boot - just like it did before I screwed around with it. I assume after setting these options I then hit INITIALIZE to save the settings. Would appreciate it if someone could check their 380Z EASY SETUP screen and let me know. I recently upgraded my 380Z with 128MB of memory and a 20GB, 5400RPM HDD - what a difference! Be happy to give you the 64MB of memory and 6GB, 4200RPM HDD (fresh load of XP PRO not including SP2) that I no longer need for the help. If you like email jnappi@embarqmail.com with a time I can call you. Should be easy if we worked over the phone with both computers on. THZ, Joe

Dell Dimension L733R Windows Explorer hang

Hi, yes XP does have system restore, which you can access through safe mode, pressing the ESC key during bootup will get you there. I would not uninstall IE8, but disable by using Firefox which is a much safer browser for XP, you can down load this for free.
Hope this helps

I need a free audio driver for my laptop the model i s ibm thinkpad 380z

The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver.
When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it’s file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive.
Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP or Vista device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true
You can download the various drivers and then you click on and run the various driver files, they will then unzip and expand into a sub folder on C:\drivers Then install the various drivers from this folder (run the set-up file).

My lap top will not turn on giving error message windowssystem32congfigsystem

Hi,

You need to get a Windows XP from someone and follow these instructions:
Windows could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE

1. Insert and boot from your Windows XP CD.
2. At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
3. Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation of Windows you want to repair.
Typically this will be #1
4. Enter in the administrator password when requested
5. cd \windows\system32\config
6. Depending on which section was corrupted:
ren software software.bad or ren system system.bad
7. Depending on which section was corrupted
Copy \windows\repair\system
Copy \windows\repair\software
8. Take out the CD ROM and type exit

If that doesn't work or you can't get into the repair console then With the XP disk you choose to install Windows XP and when you choose to install over the current XP installation you will be given the option to repair the current Windows installation and you won't lose all of your data.

Good luck!
And Thanks.

Proxy host error BSOD on PH32DSP.dll

Many Windows 7 users are facing BSOD (Blue screen of Death) error.
Follow the below steps to resolve the error.
1. Startup in safe mode (tap the F8 key on your keyboard repeatedly as the computer is starting up)
2. Select a method of safe booting from the menu (first try with networking; if the crash still occurs, try without networking)
3. Once the system has booted, click the Start button and type MSCONFIG then press enter in Windows Vista (in Windows XP, click the Start button, then click “Run” and type MSCONFIG then press enter).
4. Go to the Startup tab.
5. Disable Kaspersky and any related items (e.g. kl1.sys), then press OK, then restart the system if it does not happen automatically. Startup normally (i.e. not in safe mode).

Alternatively you can launch the Kaspersky application and set it to not start at startup.
