Wipe the underside of the cartridge with a soft tissue and then try cleaning the cartridge again, several times if need be. Blocked jets seem to be the problem here

Epson stylus dx6000 only copy in color mode

Check the printers settings. It could be that it is set up incorrectly or you may be out of ink and it only appears to print from your computer because it can use all colors to make it appear black ink is used. Usually when color ink is used to create black print, it isn't a Black Black but with a bit of brownish hue. Try changing setting to USE BLACK ONLY and then see what happens. ALSO TRY my solution vice a versa.

Good luck

Lexmark z705 printing blank envelopes soft ware ok

The problem that you are experiencing is caused by the way the text is formatted in most word processing documents. By default envelopes are printed not in black, but a dark gray. This confuses the printer and causes it to use the color cartridge to process gray instead of using the black cartridge.

You can fix this problem with one of two ways:

1. Click on "Start", "Control Panel" and click on "Printers and Faxes." Right click on the "Lexmark Printer" icon and select "Properties." Click on "Printing Preferences." Go to "Quality/Copies" tab and select the option "Print color images in black and white."
2. You can also change the color of you text to a true black in your word processor. This will require you to resort to the word processor's documentation and help files.

Both of these settings will cause your printer to use the black cartridge instead of the color. If either one of these solutions solves your problem, it means your color cartridge needs to be cleaned or replaced. If you feel that the color cartridge should not be out of ink, please follow the steps given below:

Clean Nozzle Procedure:

1. Go to the "Solution Center" and click on the "Maintenance" tab.
2. Select "Clean to fix horizontal strips."
The colors that you should see here are black, yellow, magenta (a reddish purple) and cyan (a dark sky blue). You should notice the diagonal lines above and below the solid horizontal lines. These diagonal lines should be solid from left to right with no gaps.

If there are gaps in the lines or the print diminishes across the page, you should run the "Clean Print Nozzles" page a couple more times to try and clear it up. If you still have gaps at the top and bottom, you should "wick" the cartridges by following the steps given below:

“Wicking” Procedure:

1. Select "Install color/black cartridge" and remove the cartridge from the printer.
2. Get a damp paper towel.
3. Set the ink cartridge right side up on the damp paper towel so that the ink nozzles are against the towel and hold the cartridge in this position for about 15 seconds.
4. Now wipe the print head (on the bottom where the ink comes out) across in one direction only (left to right) until it looks clean.
5. Next dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure that the ink is flowing.
6. Snap the cartridge back into the printer.
7. On your computer, select "Old Cartridge installed."
8. Repeat the "Clean to fix horizontal strips" procedure listed above.

If this procedure does not help, please let us know so that we can continue with technical support.

Every second line the top of the sentence is blank

Try replacing the Print head, if this does'nt help try purging the printer by having the printer pump ink through the nozzles by using clean funtion in your options and maintance menu. More then like the Black cartridge is clogged or needs replacing, Ink is put on paper by the unit heating the ink and outputing it to very small nozzles on the printhead.

Black Cartridge Not Being Used While Printing

try printing in monochrome mode or gray-scale mode, and specify that it use only the black cartridge.

another problem could be that the head have gotten dry, remove the cartridge, get a soft cotton towel, wet it with a little bit of water, put the head of the cartridge (where the ink comes out from) on the cotton towel, you will see some ink come out of the cartridge, if yes, then put the cartridge back into the printer, and give it a try.

if not try to blow some air into the cartridge as if doing CPR ;) to the cartridge, this will help the ink get out of the cartridge.

if all this fails, get a new cartridge, as sometimes the head could have gotten damaged.

good luck

Extra horizontal lines on my document.

Have a real good cleanup of the ink that was (presumably) leaking from the old black cartridge. Remove the cartridges from the cartridge carrier and use kitchen paper towel to soak up any ink in the bottom. Give the cartridge outlet holes a dab on the towel as well. Replace the cartridges promptly.

Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves, pull the power cord out of the back. You should now be able to (carefully) move the print head by hand. Place a layer of paper towel on the printer track, and move the print head across it to mop up any surplus ink. Move the print head across to the left out of the way and use kitchen towel to mop up surplus ink in the Print Head parking area.

Now turn the printer on and carry out a cleaning cycle (right click the little printer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select clean). Now run a nozzle check (right click the little printer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select nozzle check). Are there any extra black lines in evidence now? If so, try another 1 or 2 cleaning cycles and nozzle check. Black lines gone now?

If you still have the black lines, come back with a new comment.

Black lines on prints

Remove the cartridge.....
using a cotton bud clean the ink nozzle area on the cartridge for excess ink..take extra care not to damage the nozzles

... while at it take a piece of rag and try to clean the..service station area(this is where the cartridge goes to the side of the printer)for ink build ups....try to clean the rubbers that wipe the ink off the head as it runs across ..this is near the service station area clean well

it just requires cleaning..try to use little bit of cleaning solution that is available for that particular model..if not use bit of alcohol but do not use it on the cartridge itself ..make sure the alcohol is properly dried as not to damage the head

do reply if this helped

My printed and copied pictures have horozontal lines

White lines through copies White lines can appear on a copy in either a horizontal or vertical direction. How the white line appears on the copy will determine the cause and solution. Horizontal lines Horizontal white lines usually indicate the ink cartridge is running out of ink or has some clogged ink nozzles. Try the following steps: 1. Some of the ink cartridge ink nozzles may be clogged with dry ink. Use the ink cartridge cleaning service to try to clear them. Follow the steps below: 1. Verify that there is plain white paper in the Input tray. 2. Press Setup. 3. Press or to select Tools and then press OK. 4. Press or to select Clean Print Cartridge and then press OK. The unit prints a test page. 5. Examine the test page. If the print quality of the page is good, stop here. If the print quality appears to be getting better, run the Clean Print Cartridge utility again 2. If the self test appears better, Increase the copy quality setting (Normal or Best) and try copying again. If the quality is still poor, continue to the next step. 3. If the quality is still poor, one or more of the cartridges may be low on ink or empty. Follow the steps below to check the ink levels. 1. Open HP Solution Center. 2. Click Settings. 3. Click Print Settings. 4. Click Printer Toolbox. 5. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. Figure 1: Estimated ink levels - both cartridges low NOTE: You can also open the Printer Toolbox from the Print Properties dialog box. In the Print Properties dialog box, click the Features tab and then click Printer Services button then click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. 6. Replace any ink cartridge that is low on ink. 4. If the ink levels are not low, clean the cartridge face and electrical contacts at the back of the print carriage. 1. Open the front of the unit to access the ink cartridges. 2. After the ink cartridges are at the center, unplug the power cord from the back of the unit, and remove the ink cartridges. The power cord must be removed to ensure that the unit is not damaged during the cleaning process. 3. Clean the cross-hatched area of the ink cartridge with a soft clean cloth that is slightly dampened with clean water to remove any build up. Avoid cleaning the ink cartridge nozzle plate. Cleaning this area can force foreign matter into the ink nozzles and plug them. Figure 2: Cleaning the ink cartridge 1 - Clean in the cross-hatched area only 2 - Do not touch the nozzle plate 3 - Clean the copper-colored contacts 4. With a soft lint free cloth slightly dampened with clean water, clean the copper-colored contacts on the back of the ink cartridges. 5. Allow the cartridges to dry before reinserting them. 6. Close the unit, and plug the power cord back in. 7. Print a self-test page to check the results. Follow the steps below to print a self-test page. 1. Press Setup. 2. Press or until Print Report displays and then press OK. 3. Press or until Self-Test Report displays and then press OK. The self-test report prints. 5. If the problem is not corrected by cleaning the ink cartridges, replace the ink cartridge(s). Vertical lines Vertical white lines usually indicate the scanner did not calibrate correctly. This can be caused by debris on the scanner glass or white reference pad. Try the following steps: 1. Turn off the HP all-in-one product and unplug the power cord. 2. Open the document cover to access the scanner glass. 3. Using a non abrasive glass cleaner, thoroughly clean the scanner/copier glass, and white lid backing on the inside of the top cover. CAUTION: Spray the cleaner onto the cloth. Never spray fluids directly onto the HP all-in-one product. 4. Plug in the power cord and turn on the HP all-in-one.
