Does your k/b have a "shift lock" button... if so press it to disable the "shift lock"

If using the numeric keypad, ensure you have "num lock" ON

My son was doing school work on the computer all weekend - now I can no longer find or open my Excel spreadsheets!

Your sheets should not have been affected, except in the recent files location. You did not mention what operating system you are using, but on Vista and 7 you open your documents folder and type the name or partial name, of the spred sheet into the search window in the upper right corner of the window, and all sheets matching will show up.

I have a new PC using Works 8.5 I have a problem with loss of formatting when I do a dabase report output, and paste it to a works spreadsheet ( or to an Excel 2007 spreadsheet) All larger fonts and bold...

You may be able to set the cell styles for every workbook/worksheet. Take and re-format your exported spreadsheet the way you would like it to look, then highlight those cells and poke through the menus until you find the cell formatting options (I don't use Works that much, so I'm not sure of the actual menu path) and see if there is an option for formatting those cells in that manner as a general default cell format.

Either you need to upgrade your version of Excel or the person creating the spreadsheet needs to save it in a format for compatability. For example, the person who created the workbook simply needs to do File and Save As. Under type, one can choose a format for older versions of Excel.

Hope this helps!

PREVENTING REPEAT ENTRIES IN A RECORD ENTER BOX OR REPEAT ENTRY OF EARLIER ENTRY

The only reference I find is that you may have a duplicate filter. Check the filters and delete the duplicate on.
Also, to create a reliable database, I would use Excel or OOpenOffice, which has a spreadsheet program compatible to Excel.

Download and install the free, open source OpenOffice.org office suite (www.openoffice.org)-- it include a spreadsheet compatible with Excel spreadsheets (along with a good, MS Word compatible word processor, and a good MS PowerPoint-compatible presentation program).

Good Luck,

The license key to spreadsheet professional program is not being recognized. I typed in the number about 20 times, and all I get is a message saying that the number I entered is not correct

first make sure that you follow any letter casing(small/capital) exactly like it looks
second be careful with certain letter and numbers that look alike suchs as i,L,1. try each of these if you are not sure which one it is
third, try removing anything you have installed so far for the spreadsheet program and try to reinstall it

fourth, the only other legal option is to contact the manufacturer to obtain a valid license key
