The past couple of days, my HP G62-228NR laptop has been freezing without an apparent cause/causes. It freezes and the mouse light sensor in the top left corner of the mouse touchpad turns orange. It has happened when I was just browsing on my internet browser, Mozilla and when I was playing my Sims 2 Computer game, and when I just try to get into one of those programs. The entire computer freezes. I have run virus scans and done updates and according to the computer, everything is up to date and virus-free. I would love to know what could be causing this, and what can I do to fix the potential problem(s). Thanks for your time.

SOURCE: my touchpad has locked on my ProBook 4720s. How do

Hi there,
Simply tap twice on the orange light and your pad will be working again, this is basically a lock like the HP had in earlier which was made enable/disable by Fn+F7 key, As a new advancement its a lock and also indicator, when you see orange light it means that touchpad is locked, for unlocking simply tap twice on the orange light on touchpad, and it will start working again

SOURCE: Recently my computer has been

Hello.

From your description, sounds like a memory problem. We're tryin to determine if the module(s) are loose or one or both (if more than one) is faulty.

Power your system on and press F2 or F12 to load the diagnostics. It may be different for your computer. Run the diagnostics to see if memory is problematic.

Power off, disconnect all the cables and flip the laptop to the back. Remove the battery. There should be a cover (usually has one screw) that indicates memory or RAM. Remove the cover. Note that there are 2 memory slots and one or both can be filled. Memory is inserted and removed on an angle.

First, remove and reinsert both. Replace the battery and power the system. Try your games again to see if any difference. If no difference with only one module, the module could be faulty.

If no difference and both of the slots are filled, remove one, replace the battery and power the system. You will have less memory to work with, but try your games anyway. If OK, swap memory and try again.

Remember to disconnect power and remove the battery before working with the memory.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My webcam is sinking inside

There are 4 pads or cushions one at each corner, take a small screw driver or a butter knife and carefully remove the pads. There will be a screw under each one of the pads (if all the pads are the same size there might be more screws up to 4 more) probably just the 4 though. It will have to be like a jewelers screwdriver. Remove the 4 screws then with an old credit card or a plastic knife. Slowly start to open up the seem of your laptops screen. You will have to be super careful not to break the bezel that covers the edges of your LCD screen. If you have a digital camera take pics as you take it apart so you can reference them to reassemble. After you get the front bezel off. There should be 4 screws that hold your LCD panel to the back of the laptop. It's best to have a little cup to put all those little screws in. Now you'll have to be super careful, and stand up the LCD panel careful not to pull on the wires and not to touch the circuits on the top of the screen it should be covered in plastic and say DON'T TOUCH. Now you will have to see if there is a connector the holds you camera to the front bezel or the back one. You might need a little bit of contact cement or a similar product. Or maybe just needs a couple pieces of tape to re-secure it to the back to hold the wires from slipping inside of the screen again. After you tape or glue (only a little tiny drop so you don't short out or make it impossible to fix it again) reassemble and good luck to you.

D620 bad battery causing freeze

Original or replacement battery? Replace battery, or, Contact Dell Support, if it's a fault or recall on the specific battery, it would be noted at Dell. There has been battery recalls, in the past, that were fire hazzards. I don't know if your battery applies? This issue COULD be dangerous, if left unattended.

Image pad light comes on ocassionally, lap top freezes, can not turn off. HP Envy Windows 7

Good Day,
For clarifications, is it that the computer freezes or the mouse pad doesn't work again while the keyboard still works?
Because for your type of laptop, around the top left corner of your mouse pad, there is a small hollow. If you double tap this place, you deactivate the mouse pad and if you repeat the tapping, you activate it. That's why the light there comes on and off. So may be you check it to know if you tap here during your typing.
I hope this helps you? Thank you for using Fizya!

Just bought an acer aspire one d255 and it keeps freezing without any apparent reason. I tried to set it back to factory settings but it freezes without finishing the cycle. Can you help?

One of the most common causes of freezing and locking up is faulty memory another is overheating problems.
Check the memory by running Memcheck.
Type mem in the search box after clicking start and run the diagnostics.
Check the vents are not blocked with fluff etc and the exhaust is blowing warm air.
Hope that helps.

Hello, I have a problem with my widescreen. I have a laptop (HP Pavilion dv2418ca, Windows Vista, Memory 2,00 GB, Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) Duo CPU, 32-bit Operating System) and my widescreen...

It may be caused by overheating. Overheating is the main problem with HP portables. Use a fan to cool down the computer and check how long it last working. If blowing air with a fan "Appears to fix the problem" stop using the computer and get maintenance service for it. The processor area needs to be cleaned.

I bought an Asus EEE PC 1008HA notebook in December and now it is starting to freeze quite regularly, a minimum of three to four times a day. I use it often and quite a lot, and I have tried cleaning out...

A laptop generally freeze due to following reasons...please note that in terms of computers..... Freeze and hang are two different things...
here are possible cause of freezing
  • The most common cause is your Hard-disk not attached properly and is loosing contact occasionally with the pins.
  • The same thing happens with the devices like RAM, etc.
  • Avoid fast motion of your laptop while using it.
  • Some people also claim that turning on the laptop's WiFi while not using it can cause freeze.
  • Voltage Fluctuation also causes freeze.
  • Low voltage can also cause occasional freezes.
  • One more important reason is Overheating.

Hope this will help......cheers :)

The mouse froze up

Hi

First try rebooting your computer and see if it works.

else

Take a look at how many programs you have open when your mouse freezes up. If you are running multiple programs at once and have limited RAM, this can be a major cause of mouse freezing. The solution is either run fewer programs or simply purchase additional RAM.
You also want to make sure your mouse drivers are up to date. In these cases simply go to the manufacturer website and check for any driver updates you may have missed out on.
But the most common cause of mouse freezing is due to errors in the Windows registry. The registry contains settings and commands that are utilized by the mouse to run properly. When there are errors in the registry this can cause a breakdown in the communication between your mouse and system. When your computer cannot communicate properly it will lock up or freeze.
Unfortunately there is no way to manually fix this problem. The registry is an extremely complex directory that is also sensitive to alterations. If you adjust or remove the wrong registry files your entire system can collapse.
This is why I highly recommend scanning your computer with a top flight registry cleaner. Not only can it fix mouse freezing, it will also speed up your computer considerably. So stop asking why is my mouse freezing. Scan your computer for free below and fix the problem today.

It keeps freezing up if you put it past #5

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. Freeze ups are caused by a couple things.

1. The first thing is a dirty evaporator coil. Air conditioners that run 24 hours a day should be thoroughly cleaned every 90 days.

2. The Blower fan wheel is dirty

3. The fan motor is not running fast enough.

Most of the time these 3 items listed above are the main reasons and Air Conditioner Freezes up.

Thanks for using FixYa,
