SOURCE: vertical band on new monitor

Without a second thought, send it back.
When you say the monitor has not be dropped, wht you are really saying is it has not been dropped by you.
There were alot of hands involved in getting it from the production line to your house.
At any stage it could have been dropped or given some form of impact (normally in transit)
That fault is in the panel itself and cannot be fixed.

How to Troubleshoot Vertical Lines on an LCD TV Screen

<p>There are two prevalent formats for video programming: full screen and wide screen. LCD TVs are designed to show a wide screen picture to go with high-definition (HD) programming. When standard-definition (SD) programming is watched on an LCD HDTV in its default settings mode, there will be two vertical lines on the right and left sides of the picture. You need to go into your TV settings menu to troubleshoot this issue.<br /> jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); <span><br /></span> <span>Instructions</span> <ol> <li> 1 Press the "Menu" button on your remote control and open the "Picture Settings" sub-menu.<br /> </li> <li> 2 Select "View" from the list of options.<br /> </li> <li> 3 Choose a viewing mode that will eliminate the vertical lines. Select "Zoom" to crop the on-screen image to fit the screen. Select "Wide/Widescreen" to stretch the on-screen image to fit the screen, or select "Panoramic/Panorama" to stretch the sides of the onscreen image to fit the screen (recommended).<br /> </li></ol>

I just had a smilar problem with the vertical lines and resolved it by disabling the display adapter, the display driver was corrupted, and i am using it to type right now and no problems. Go to the device manager and disable the disp0lay driver by right clicking on it and selecting un9install and restart. I could hardly see through the lines but I did it and it worked. Windows automatically comes with drivers from many manufacturers for many devices and it seemed it has one for mine and it worked as my display adapter is still disabled but my graphics are perfect....All the best!

The shape of the cursor in Visual Foxpro

I, too, am a veteran of DOS to Windows conversions, in fact, I make my living at it. But I learned over a decade ago to get over the differences, like using Tab instead of Enter to move around the screen, and of course, the cursor shape.

If you want your converted program to be accepted by people who have never seen DOS, you need it to follow Windows UI conventions.
