[NOTE: You may need your (or any compatible, as in exact same version) Windows installation CD for the following to benefit you.]

Boot into Windows. CLICK Start>Run and type into the resulting dialog box, "sfc /scannow" (without the quotation marks).

NOTE: there is a space between "fc" and "scannow".

The System File Checker will scan your system files for any corrupt or missing system files and replace them with known good examples. It may ask you to insert your Windows installation CD into the optical drive.

When it finishes, reboot.

I have a gateway gx7022e windows xp computer. When i try to boot it up the white letters pop up then the screen goes to the gateway screen and freezes. Then my num lock comes on but my keyboard wont work....

At power on / power up, look for the key during the bootup (black screen with white text), that allows you to enter SETUP. If none designated such as F1, F2 F10 etc, then quickly click the delete button a few times and that may get you into setup. You may have to turn off the computer if you miss that window of time if it rfequires pressing the delete button a few times. Keep an eye out for the Enter Setup key though. To turn off the computer press and hold the power button 'till is shuts down and resart the process until you get to the setup screen in bios. In setup bios environment, look for set factory defaults and then save and restart. That may solve the issue of the lockup.

Hotmail mesangar stopped working code 80048820 was given with cant connect you, uninstaled all windows essential programes and re installed all programes , came back with the same thing cant connect you...

1. The date on your computer needs to be set properly -- double click the clock verify that
the time and date are set.
2. If your password information is not saved, verify that you are typing it in with the
correct case (uppercase or lowercase).
3. Change your password @ https://login.passport.com/ChangePW.srf to
something smaller (under 10-12 characters), then try signing in again.
4. If you use a firewall (like ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security etc. ), it's possible
that Messenger doesn't have the correct rights to access the Internet, especially since you
upgraded. You may need to re/add Messenger to the allowed list of programs in your firewall
if this is the case.
5. If you disabled your firewall in the past, it still may be blocking Messenger -- try
restarting it and see if that helps the situation. You also might try uninstalling an
installed firewall, to verify that it isn't causing a problem (even if it is disabled).
6. Clear your IE cache and cookies -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the
Delete Cookies button.
7. Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check
for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL
3.0' is checked, then click OK.
8. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK
and do the same for the following:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 MSXML3.dll
hope to solve ur problem
good day

I have a folder on my desk top that is empty but it will not delete. Every time I delete it a new one appears.

Go to the Safe mode with networking of your computer.

( Shut down the computer --> Now switch on and keep tappin the F8 Key to get to the Windows Advance Option. --> Now select the Safe mode with networking Option --> Choose the windows and hit enter --> make sure you enter the Safe mode with networking as an Administrator. )

Now Download malwarebytes on your computer through the link below and scan your computer with that. If you find any infection remove it.

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

Its a Free Download.

( The folder you are clickin on and it gets created automatically when you delete is an infection )

Do the above scan and let me know if it works ...!

Can't boot.

Simpliest solution is to do a system restore. Reload Windows.

Some people think this is lazy tech work so ill give you a few other options.

1.run a check disk from a boot disk
2.reload the windows files and hope the problem is just a missing file

there are probably a few other things you can try, I just cant think of what they are right now.

Need to reset my PC to the original factory settings

You will need to insert the Windows disk that came from Dell and reboot the system, follow the on screen instructions. If you do not have a disk, you will have to look for a dell recovery option within windows.
Good Luck!

Network computer freezing every day

Hi,

It may need warmer clother, lol, JUST kidding. You may need to enter the dos environment and safe boot.
Try this, it may work for you. What I’m going to suggest is entering the DOS environment and making necessary changes to get your pc up and running.

- Reboot> At reboot watch for DOS screen option “enter setup” via a F button option. You have to watch closely because on some pc’s this option goes by quick, so be ready to act. Once in the DOS environment navigate to “boot options” choose safe mode . Save changes and exit. When your os is up go immediately to system restore: Click Start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore. Choose a date before your issue arose.>click next/continue and wait for system to restore. Reboot, and enter DOS environment once more and go to boot options and choose “
Normal boot”>save changes and exit and you should be done. I hope this helped or at least gave you some ideas for further investigation.
