Question about NEC PDAs

3 Answers

My NEC 900 MHz cordless phone suddenly won't ring. The ring line light blinks and I can answer it, but it has no sound. I have tried everything including pushing the "ring volume" and it does ring when I do this, but never when someone calls me. It used to work just fine. I never dropped it. Just no longer rings. It has a code on the face of it saying 00:DND. The phone is 4 years old. I purchased it new with my NEC office integrated system.

FIX YA said to "lock setting for ring tone" but there is no way. This is NOT a PDA. It is a simple CORDLESS PHONE with a base. There is no button on my cordless telephone to lock any ring tone. Just a button to press for loud, soft or off. I have it on LOUD but it does not ring.

    Hi Lee
As I state in my original problem "the phone is 4 years old".  I have Googled NEC 900 MHz cordless phones and they all come with the base for $300.00

It is linked to my business phone system for $3,000 that I have for our office.  Are you sure I can get a cheap $15  900 MHz cordless phone of any other brand and put it in the same charger as the NEC?

Sir,

This problem is due to the feature keys is not setting and the problem type Call coverage No ring. By default keys 1-4 are line keys for outside lines 1-4. You can only setup cordless telephone feature keys from system Programming.

Cordless telephone features keys for Call coverage No ring is set to 07+covered extension. Press key to call or pick up a call ringing the covered extension.

Thanks
good luck

Yes,
It sounds like your phone is defective/malfunctioned. How long ago did you purchase the unit? You can get 900 mhz phones for starting at 15$. So I would recommend replacement.
Thanks,
Lee

I cannot get my nec mobile pro 900 to sync with my laptop i downloaded activesync from: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/eulas/eula_activesync45_1033.mspx?ProductID=76 i downloaded...

Which one did you do first: Did you install ActiveSync 4.5 first, or did you try installing the driver first?

The best way to do this is as follows:

  1. Download and install ActiveSync (4.5 is what i use both at home and work and it works great with the NEC 900 and 900C's.
  2. Restart your Windows XP Machine (I assume you don't have Vista)
  3. Next, follow the instructions for the installing the NEC 900 usb drivers (these drivers should be installed AFTER installing ActiveSync... (it seems to work that way without problems for me).
  4. Next, restart your xp machine again.
  5. Now, connect your NEC MobilePro 900 to your Windows XP machine, and it should perform smoothly.
If this does not work for you, you can contact the folks at usedhandhelds.com, they sell and repair, as well as provide support for these machines.

Hope this helps

Nokia e50 wont notify me when i recieve a new text message

Hello there! thanks for using Fixya.com!

Try the following instructions, to personalize your Nokia E50!
Profiles
Warning: In the offline profile you cannot make or receive any calls, or use other features that require network
coverage. Calls still may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device. To make calls,
you must first activate the phone function by changing profiles. If the device has been locked, enter the lock code.

Select Menu > Tools > Profiles.
You can adjust and customize the ringing tones, alert tones, and other device tones for different events, environments, or caller
groups.
To customize a profile, scroll to the desired profile in the list, and select Options > Personalise.
Define the following settings:
Ringing tone — Select a ringing tone from the list, or select Tone downloads to open a bookmark folder containing a list of
bookmarks for downloading tones using the browser. To listen to the selected tone, select Play. If you have two alternate
phone lines in use, you can specify a ringing tone for each line.
Say caller's name — Activate the text-to-speech ringing tone feature. When someone from your contacts list calls you, the
device sounds a ringing tone that is a combination of the spoken name of the contact and the selected ringing tone.
Ringing type — Select how you want the ringing tone to alert.
Ringing volume — Select the volume level of the ringing tone.
Message alert tone — Select a tone for received text messages.

Display problem on NEC MobilePro 900

I just bought a 900C on eBay and had the same problem. According to the seller "the video cable on the right under the hinge cover gets loose..if its reseated it will be fine..you could just press on the bottom of the hinge cover right and it will make it go away but best to reseat the cable." I haven't tried his solution yet. Mine seems to intermittent since it is working fine right now.

My NEC MP900 won't sync!

First when you plug it with your PC.. do you hear the sound of the connection ? ... can you see the USB Icon at the system tray? Doest the system pop-up a message saying that the USB device isn't recognized? If it doesn't ! then there is no USB connection made... Try live support.. it's better to solve problems.
