Yeah, I was going to suggest power supply issue. Plasmas IMHO, are not worth spending the money to fix. Its the reason why they are so cheap these days in comparison to LCD's. I had a 50" Samsung Plasma that went out on me within 2 years (E Buffer board and XMain problem). Its not about the manufacturer but more about the Plasma technology. Do a few searches about plasma and you will find a lot of problems with these tv's. Id say cut your losses, sell the TV for parts and buy a more reliable technology
I had the same problem with a JVC VM-42X795. The repair man said a wire in the monitor is probably borken that provides power for that enire row. I stared with one bad row, but ow I have two.
The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route. If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I believe that this monitor will not work unless you have the cable from the media center to the monitor hooked up, I have all the parts from one of these due to the screen being defective on one of my customer's TV like yours. I have the connection cable that I could sell for $ 20. + Priority shipping of $5.65
guess what? I have the EXACT same tuner that u're looking for... my place was broken into and they TOOK the tv monitor... but left behind the tuner . smart thief. if u're interested in buying this tuner to make ur tv complete again. (its in MINT condition) email me at [email protected] and put in JVC PD 42wv74 plasma tv in subject so i d know who it was. thanks.
CRT lenses need to be aligned. Would recommend having a profesional technician do it. Easy fix for a CRT profesional but quite technical for the homeowner. Before fixing it, unplug. open up back go in and look at the front of the tubes with a bright flash light. If you see a brown square under the lenses you might just want to upgrade instead of fix. Brown square is CRT burn.
