I have had this satellite receiver working since 10/2/06. It has been working ok until recently. It has a problem that causes the picture and sound to be ok and then seems to have no signal. This on/off action occurs in about a 2 second sequence for as long as I have the receiver on. The signal level is about 85 and the quality is between 72 and 83. I had the installer check the system out and he reassured me that all was ok on the dish and he isolated the problem to the receiver itself. I believe his conclusion is valid. I opened up the receiver and gave it a visual check for any obvious damage. I found that the smaller PC board identified as GRP-GL0242C has a burned out resistor (R24). The resistor shows signs of overheating and the PC board itself has a darkened area around R24 due to the overheating. I have concluded that this may be the cause of failure, however there may be other associated parts that have also failed or degraded. The resistor is so badly burned that I cannot read the color code. If I could, I would find a replacemant and install it. I do not have access to a schematic to find the value. Can you help me with this problem and possibly identify the value of R24, so I could get a new one and see if this would solve my problem. I appreciate any help you can supply. The value of that resistor is 1K ohms 5% 1/8 watt. If that resistor is burnt, Q2 or IC3 could have caused it to burnt.
I would also suggest to check the solder joints at Q2 and IC3.
Good Luck.
Hello, By now I guess you may have either fixed or replaced your receiver. Whenever I have had a situation like yours, I have removed the resistor carefully, cut it in half and measured the resistance of both sides. You can sometimes get close enough for it to work.

Changed from single to twin LNB on a Sky mini dish, can not get a signal. To try to solve the problem I've replaced both coaxial cables, replaced the twin LNB and returned the Humax FOXSAT-HDR to retailer to check it out. When I fit the satellite finder it shows 80%.
