First, make sure the dvi cable is hooked properly to the computer and that the computer's VGA card's dvi output is set to work in the monitor's advance options.

Has this computer/monitor combinatioin ever worked before? Or did the message appear after successful operation of dvi to the monitor?

Perhaps, try to use a vga cable to the lcd monitor to see if that input works.

Good luck on this repair.

What does dvi mean

Hello figment_of_u,
DVI stands for Digital Video Interface. They are used for direct digital connections between source video (namely, video cards) and LCD monitors. This provides a faster, higher-quality image than with analog, due to the nature of the digital format. All video cards initially produce a digital video signal, which is converted into analog at the VGA output. The analog signal travels to the monitor and is re-converted to a digital signal. DVI-D eliminates the analog conversion process and improves the connection between source and display.

Hope this helps you understand what DVI is for. Thank you for choosing Fixya.

Make sure that all cables are securely fastened, and that the monitor is set to use the correct source (eg. DVI, VGA, or HDMI).

Moniter keeps turning off saying no video imput

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!

Check that the Input signal cable is properly inserted in the VGA socket. Secondly the Primary VGA is properly giving display signals to the Monitor/LCD. Because there are cases in which VGA is the bottle neck of the trouble you are facing.

Cross check and update me with the status,

Monitor says "no imput signal"

Check video card in the computer by buying a new video card or used one your choice, if this does not shore it up the its the motherboard itself.

Thanks
