Question about Microwave Ovens

MICROWAVE WON'T HEAT OR COOK

Samsung Microwave model # MO1450WA. My husband cooked bacon in it this morning with no problem. Tonight he put something in to reheat, and the microwave will not work.

It blows air and all the other functions work just fine. Could you please give me an idea of what can be wrong or how to fix it?

Thank you,
Terry Gray

The light, turntable, and sound are all normal, just doesn't heat. You do not have to answer, as I cannot afford your service at this time. I've been disabled and out of work for over a year, and have yet to receive social security disability. Once that happens, I will get back in touch. Thank you.

Samsung MO1450WA is all working except it will not heat. It seems to make a louder humming noise when it is turned on. It seemed to stop working suddenly. Lights, turntable all work, just will not heat.

I have the same problem as the others. Louder hum, turntable works, lights and instrument panel work. No heat though.
    Help!

I have the same problem as described in the previous posts. Microwave won't heat food but everything else about it is working including the lights, display, and turntable.

Would be interested in anyone in the Columbus, OH area that can fix it at a resonable price.

Do the inside light and turntable come on when you try to cook?

Is it making any unusual noise or is it louder or quieter than normal?

Sorry if you misunderstand, but I offer free advice so you or someone you know can fix things yourself.

Chances are you have a bad magnetron or other high voltage part, but I won't bother you with details now.

You take care of yourself.

Wolf convection microwave

see the next steps , use the VOM and fix it. God bless you

  1. Check the power diodeThis electronic component is responsible for transmitting current in one direction. If the diode becomes defective it will cause your microwave to not heat. Test the diode and replace it if necessary.
  2. High voltage capacitorResponsible for storing electricity, this part is a key component in any microwave. Remove, discharge, and test the capacitor to determine if it requires replacement.
  3. Damaged magnetronResponsible for generating waves and producing heat. When your microwave is no longer heating properly, replacement will be required.
  4. Thermal CutoffsExamine the thermal cutoffs on both the magnetron and the oven itself. Take off one of the leads and using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check the terminals. If you get a result other than zero, replace the thermal cutoffs.

I have a oster microwave and cannot find how long to cook certain things like bacon.

Thick or medium rashers of bacon in a 750 Watt microowave take about a minute per rasher. If you put the bacon on a glass tray and cover with paper kitchen roll, (NOT RECYCLED AS THAT MAY CONTAIN METALIC TRACES), it stips the spitting and keeps the microwave nice and clean.
Hope that helps.

The glass turntable broke in 3 pieces this morning while cooking bacon. The bacon was not yet cooked or even hot. It broke into 3 large pieces. The unit is not at all new. Does this sound normal? Did I do...

The same thing happened to my microwave this morning while heating a cup of water, which broke into 3 pieces too before the water hadnt even hot.
Maybe you have already solved your problem and I just share my experience.
I am trying to call the manufacturer nearby and ask for the turntable, but I am afraid the new turntable dosent fit my a little bit old microwave.

Microwave wont heat

look at the $2.00 door safety interlock switch(s) before you replace the very expensive (and hard and dangerous) magnetron.

No fan noise when cooking.

The internal cooling fan is critical. It comes on automatically whenever the oven is cooking.

If the oven is used without its working properly, the magnetron can be destroyed very quickly.

(This of course is different from the hood vent exhaust fan, which you can turn on and off at will)

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

In some models, the motor itself is bad. In other models, it is a bad relay or connection on the control circuit board.

We regularly repair these control panel assemblies for customers nationwide with our guaranteed $39.95 service in about a week.

Feel free to contact me directly (with your model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Ge JVM1190 appears to be working but does not cook.

I spoke with a qualified microwave technician who advised me to buy a new microwave as the problem I was having indicated that the magnetron tube had blown. What a waste of time to ask for help from you.

Microwave does not heat food placed in the center of the turntable. Leaves a cold spot in the middle of the food.

This is normal. That's why I always recommend to my customers that the food be placed slightly off-center on the turntable. An analogy I refer to is stirring paint: If you stir paint with a stick by simply rotating the stick in the center of the can, it's far less effective than pulling the stick around an imaginary circle halfway bewteen the center and the edge.
