I am in india and i want india map where i can buy

1.connect your device to pc via USB
2.it will open as GARMIN mass storage on your pc
3.open GARMIN drive from my computer
4.if windows 7, look left side Organize->Folder and search option
5.click View Tab ->click show hidden files folders
6.uncheck hide protected operating system file.
7.click ok

8.open .system folder and delete gmapprom.img and paste your india map file and rename it to gmapprom.img
9.copy JCV and SID folder to GARMIN main folder as shown in the image.

You have to buy India map for the GPS, and install them.

Yes but won't be a very useful exercise. Because, you will have to purchase a new map of India, install it (provided you have an SD card slot) or install it to the hard drive (provided you have the space) and switch the maps. Very easily said than done. Most important of all, I do not think, Tom Tom offers a map of India. It would be best to buy a cheap one that comes with mapmyInida maps pre-installed. My one suggestion would be look for a GPS where you can navigate by latitude and longitude input as an option. Since most towns/rural areas do not have street/Avenue intersections, locating your destination in Google and feeding that lat/lon to your GPS would enable you to use your GPS far better in those conditions. Garmin seems to have India maps and GPS in the Rs. 8000/- range. Costlier compared to US prices though.

Yes, why not! the software maps are really helpful to give you the right route. For software maps you can try SatGuide maps.The best thing is that you can also upgrade maps from time to time.

Hi you can connect to an exteral GPS device using bluetooh and use its features such as mapping ur position, finding distances between places, finding best route to reach your destination etc.
Use of exteral GPS is that it can find may satellites quicker and you can map ur position also when you are practically anywhere on earth with or wothout your network operator being present.
All you need a is a GPS blutetooh module to run your servies which actully means that it bluetooth modules costs less, than buying an additional device which would turn heavy on the pocket.

There are no India maps for tomtom. For India maps you may use Mapking, SatNav or MapMyIndia (best maps but with lousy software).
