I have Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari and they all do the same thing. Randomly, they will go through a spell of locking for about 5-10 seconds and then unlock. All of my internet browsers are up to date and I am fully protected with system cleaners, spyware blockers/detectors and virus defense and run them accordingly. Yet, I still get these problems. So, what other solution could there be?

If it is only doing this when you are on the web, I'd say it's probably a spyware or virus issue. If you go to TrendMicro.com and search for sysclean and follow the directions closely, this should help you find out if it is indeed a virus. Also, try cleaning out your temporary internet files and cookies.

I'm still not sure if this is happening only when you're on the web, or at other times. Also, what version of Internet Explorer are you using and what version of Windows?

I know this is not a solution, but another troubleshooting step- Try installing the Firefox web browser and see if the same thing happens with this browser. If it doesn't, then the problem is with Internet Explorer. At this point, you could consider either just to continue using Firefox, or you might be facing the prospect of reinstalling the entire operating system

I have an HP Pavillion xd 7000. Won't go full screen when watching videos. I tried f-11 and right click on video but that just opened a box.

If the resolution of your video doesn't match the resolution of your screen, it will be smaller.

Go to desktop, right click away from any icons.

Click personalise or properties.

Go into your screen settings and lower the resolution.

No Screen on Pavilion DV2000T
I had this problem before. Tere is a good chance this may work.
First of all remove the ram memory.

-remove battery pack and wait 10 mins
-now start charging laptop without battery pack for 2 mins
-unplUg the power AND press and hold the power button for 45 seconds
-REPLUG THE POWER CABLE BUT DONT PUT THE BATTERY PACK YET

NOW OPEN THE LID WIDER YOU CAN PRESS POWER BUTTON YOU WILL SEE YOUR SYSTEM WILL START. ONCE YOUR SYSTEM IS READY SHUT IT DOWN PUT THE RAM AND BATTERY PACK BACK AND CONTINUE TO USE YOUR LAPTOP.

It hope fully will work as if you get one or more beeps, the POST is completing alright.

My hp Pavillion dv6000 looks like it wants to turn on but turns itself back off after a min or two. It does this process over and over without turning on.

Unplug AC & battery. Then, unplug the cell battery right at the memory compartment (wait for at least 10 min).
Plug everything back in. Laptop should be back to normal.

It works for me.

I have a hp pavillion laptop with the philips dvd-ram sdvd8821

Just try to reinstall the DVD driver software through the Add Hardware wizard at the control panel. From the Start menu, left click the Control Panel, and the Add Hardware. Right to left click to open. Just follow the instructions and let your PC do the rest. If you have an internet, connect your PC without opening any window. Your PC will autoconnect and search the internet for the proper software driver. Wait for
a few minutes, until it is installed. Hope this Help.

try unplugging your power supply it may be failing and causing te noise.

Alternately your fans may be coming on when the machine warms up causing the noise - listen close by the vents on the machine and you should be able to narrow down where the sound is coming from
