Question about Black & Decker 19" Electric Lawnhog Mulching Mower with Rear Bag

1 Answer

Lawn hog nut won't tighten

Hammer,

You left someone an answer about tightening the nut on a B&D lawn hog. I checked the site you linked to, and it doesn't have lawn mowers. Can you give me some more info? It looks like a square plastic washer broke or something. I can't find any schematics or parts or anything.

Yes. No lawn mowers. At least not that I could find.

  • kswans1 Jul 19, 2008

I found it! It's right there on Dewalt's site, which BlackAndDecker.Com links to. Took a long time to find because it's not listed under Lawn Hog. In case someone else needs it, here's the link:

    http://www.dewaltservicenet.com/Products...

There's an owners manual. It says to use a 2 foot 2x4 to hold the blade in place. I think the deal is that the plastic spacer is damaged. I'm not yet sure how holding the blade in place is going to help...

Harley steering head bearing

1. Grease the fitting on the side of the neck
2. Use chisel and hammer to bend back the lock tabs on steering stem nut, then remove the nut and plate, if any. The spanner nut for the adjustment is visible at full lock right and left positions. The spanner nut should be adjusted so the forks return to the center position, when released from full lock position. The Stem nut should be tightened to between 60-80 ft. lb.s .
3. When doing the adjustment, it is necessary to have any windshield, fairing or accessories mounted in order for the adjustment to be correct.
4. If any problems with wobble, vibrations, etc. check that the tire tread hasn't worn unevenly, i.e., no cupping or high spots.

Broken stud on left front wheel

Remove: wheel, brake caliper & rotor. Drive out the remaining stub with a hammer and punch. Insert a new stud and pull it into place by tightening the lug nut. Before running out of threads, remove the nut, insert a stack of washers or a large nut which slips over the threads without contacting them, tighten the lug nut to seat the stud.

Repair steering linkage

You'll have to rent or borrow a pickle fork and a pitman arm puller. There is more than one size of pickle fork so specify for tie rod ends. You can buy them too, about $100 for the pair and they are not vehicle specific.
Jack and block up your front end so the wheels are clear. Take the nut off the tie rod end and wedge the pickle fork between the tie rod and the drag link, rap with a hammer until it separates. Loosen the bolt on the collar and unscrew the tie rod end. Count the turns when you remove it and screw the new one in the same number of turns.Fit it into the drag link and tighten the collar and the new nut.
Take the nut off the idler arm and use the pickle fork to separate it from the drag link. Unbolt the idler arm from the frame. The new one goes on in the reverse.
You'll probably need an adjustable wrench to remove the nut from the pitman arm,it's bigger than most wrench sets. Separate it from the drag link first. Slide the puller on and tighten it up. Once it starts to turn hard, give the bolt on the puller a rap with the hammer and tighten some more. Repeat until the arm comes off. Slip the new one on and tighten.
Don't be shy when you tighten these parts because if there is play, the holes in the drag link will oval out and you will have to replace it too. Don,t use a pickle fork on the pitman arm or you will have to replace the seal in the bottom of the steering box. Hope this helps.

How do i remove the magneto flywheel from a yamaha dt 175 1991 model? tapered or threaded shaft?

You will need a flywheel puller, ( dealer can sell you one > low cost ), and a hammer.
Remove the nut and washer holding the flywheel. Now screw the puller into the flywheel as far as it will easily go. Be sure to back off the pullers' center screw when mounting puller. Tighten the center screw REALLY tight then firmly strike the center of the puller screw with a medium size hammer. Alternate tightening the center screw and striking with the hammer. To tighten the center screw you will want to strike the screw handel with medium hammer force. A few blows with the hammer should pop the flywheel.
....
Please rate this answer after all is done. Thanks.
